2Font Schemes
- A font scheme is a certain font style that is
associated with a publication. - Font schemes have a major font and a minor font.
M - Major fonts are used for titles and headings
while the minor fonts are used for the text body.
3Font Schemes Task Pane
- All Publishers font schemes are organized in the
Font schemes task pane.
4Displaying and Incorporating Font Schemes
- Font schemes is always listed at the top of the
Font Schemes task pane, along with color schemes.
5Duplicating, Renaming, and Deleting Font Schemes
- From the font scheme, select the down narrow for
font scheme options and select Duplicate Scheme. - You can also rename the duplicated font schemes,
by selecting the font scheme options arrow, and
selecting Rename Scheme. - The command to delete a duplicated font scheme is
also found in the font schemes options.
6The Styles and Formatting Task Pane
- Text Styles are a set of formatting
characteristics that can be applied to text - Styles are displayed in the Styles and Formatting
task pane. - The task pane also keeps track of all the
formatting tasks you complete in the publication.
7Incorporating Text styles with the Styles and
Formatting Task Pane
- When you are creating a publication that requires
unique formatting the styles and formatting task
pane is a convenient tool. - Can apply formatting with one click.
- The task pane also provides a clear formatting
option, which makes it easy to return the text
back to the default setting.
8Importing Text Styles
- The Styles and Formatting task pane reads each
publication individually. - Import the text style to the new publication by
selecting the Import Styles option located at the
bottom of the Styles and Formatting task pane.
9Creating New Text Styles
- From the Styles and Formatting task pane, you can
create new styles to incorporate into the
publication using the Style drop down menu. - The New Style dialog box will appear for you to
enter the new style name and set formatting
options.
10Modifying, Renaming and Removing Text Styles
- All text styles can be changed, renamed and or
removed. - Select the down arrow next to the text style,
select Modify, and the Modify Style dialog box
will appear.
11Inserting WordArt
- WordArt can be inserted from the Standard
toolbar, WordArt toolbar, or from the Insert menu
under Picture. - Once the command selected, the WordArt Gallery
will open for you to select a style.
12Resize, Move and Rotate WordArt
- When WordArt has been inserted it looks as a
picture or object, ready for the dimensions to be
changed, and the Word to be moved, rotated, or
stretched. - WordArt can be re-shaped by selecting and
dragging the object points.
13Editing WordArt Text
- Editing WordArt consists of changing the word,
color, line color, and style of the font. - The editing window is opened by double clicking
the word itself or by selecting the Format
WordArt icon on the WordArt toolbar.
14Changing the WordArt Style
- When WordArt has been inserted, it can be changed
by selecting the WordArt Gallery icon on the
WordArt toolbar.
15WordArt Shapes
- Other than the contents of the gallery, there are
many other shapes that WordArt can be transformed
into. - Simply select the WordArt and choose a shape from
the Gallery icon on the toolbar.

16WordArt Wrapping Style
- Text Wrapping allows you to wrap text around
objects. - The Edit Wrap Point command allows a freestyle
wrap, meaning the text will wrap itself around
the points you create.
17Modify WordArt Character Spacing
- Character spacing is the space between each
letter in the word. - The character spacing feature allows you to
modify how close (tight) or how far (loose) the
characters (letters) should be. - On the WordArt toolbar you will find the
Character spacing menu.
18Inserting Text Boxes
- Text boxes can be inserted from the Insert menu
or from the Insert text box icon located on the
Objects toolbar. - Once you have inserted the text box, it is time
to create the text box. - The cursor will change to two intersecting lines
. Where the two lines meet will be the corner of
the text box. - From there click and hold the mouse in the spot
the text box is to begin and drag outwards.
19Auto Fitting a Text Box
- When a text box has been created and it happens
to be too small for the amount of text entered,
the Autofit option will increase or decrease the
size of the text in relation to hoe large the
text box is. - If the Auto fit option is not applied to the text
box the text will overflow or be hidden, and is
represented by the overflow icon.
20Resize, Move, and Rotate Text Boxes
- A text box is read as an object and is resized
the same way. - When a text box is moved, the cursor must be
placed on one side. The cursor will then change
to a intersecting double arrows. Then, click,
hold, and drag the arrows to the new location. - At the top of the text box you will find a green
point this point will allow you to rotate the
text box 90.
21Add Columns to a Text Box
- Found in the Format Text box dialog box.
22Aligning Text within the Text Box
- Text within a text box can be aligned vertically
or horizontally. - Select the text box and right click to select
Format Text Box. - Under the Text Box tab, select Vertical Alignment
down arrow. - To align text horizontally check the rotate text
within AutoShape by 90.
23Changing Text Box Margins
- Beneath the Vertical Alignment section you will
find Text Box Margins. - Click the up or down arrows on the top, bottom,
left, or right side to increase or decrease
margin space.
24Other Formatting Text Box Options
- Under the Colour and Lines tab background colour,
line colour and border art can be applied. - The size can be altered under the Size tab.
- Under the Layout tab the text boxs position on
the page can be changed by entering the exact
dimensions. You can also select text wrapping
options here.
25Connecting/Linking and Breaking Text Boxes
- Connecting text boxes is useful when you have a
large amount of text. When one text box is full,
the overflow text will move to the next box
creating a chain (story) of text boxes. - Linking boxes can be done two ways the first is
to create two empty text boxes and then link the
two. - The other way is to continue writing and
Publisher will ask you if you want to use
Autoflow and to connect text boxes, select yes. - To break a text box link, the link has to be
broken from the first initial text box.
26Deleting Text Boxes
- A text box can be deleted by selecting the box
and hitting Delete on your keyboard.
27Adjust Kerning, Tracking and Scaling
- Kerning is the adjustment between two specific
text characters. - Tracking is the adjustment between all text
characters. - Scaling expands or shrinks the width of
characters. - All three features can be adjusted in the
Character Spacing dialog box.
28Adjust Line Spacing
- Line spacing is the space allocated between
lines. - By default, every line is one space apart.
29Indenting Paragraphs
- Paragraphs can be indented a variety of ways.
- There are six different ways to indent
paragraphs. - These indents are set at certain dimensions, but
can be adjusted.
30Adjusting Bullets and Numbering
- Bullet and numbered lists can adjusted in the
List dialog box. - The size of the character (bullet/number) can be
enlarged or shrunk, along with the indent from
bullet/number to text.
31Adding Tabs and Drop Caps
- Adding a tab means setting a tab stop marker,
this marker will also appear on the top ruler. - Stop tab markers assist in lining up text.
- A drop cap is used to mark an opening paragraph.
32Utilizing the Format Painter
- The format painter applies any formatting from
selected text to any other text. - Select the formatted text, hit the format painter
icon, then select the text you want to apply the
formatting to.
