My strengths
  • Physical good stamina, speed, strength,
    flexibility.
  • Agility and balance.
  • Technical reasonably wide variety of movement
skills performed effectively within the dance
    context.

5
Effect of my strengths on my performance
  • I have the energy to sustain the required level
    of effort throughout the dance
  • I can move quickly when required and keep up with
    the pace of the dance.
  • I can hold balances under control and support my
    partner when required.
  • I am flexible and agile and able to move through
a wide variety of levels and directions when
    required.
  • I can perform all the dance sequences effectively
    and with control.

6
My weaknesses
  • Mental concentration, and managing stress
    levels during performances
  • Special poor creativity and flair when
    choreographing dances

7
Effects of my weaknesses on my performance
  • Stress - Physical butterflies, sweaty, rapid
    breathing, dry mouth, sick.
  • Stress Mental lose concentration, panic, forget
    dance, embarrassed,inappropriate behaviour (
    giggle, laugh ).
  • Stress Technical poor coordination and timing
due to physical affects of stress cause awkward,
    clumsy execution of sequences.

8
Effect of my weakness on my performance
  • Special Choreography lacks originality,
repetitive, done in unison, no variety of levels,
or effort in the sequences, lacks a change of
    direction and pathways while travelling.
  • Poor creativity affects my confidence as I know
that it is boring and I am embarrassed when
    performing which affects my motivation.
  • Lack of confidence in my performance results in a
poor performance technically and physically due
to lack of focus and effort.

9
Methods of collecting data about my performance
qualities
  • Video Records my dance in a performance
    situation.
  • Observation Schedule containing criteria from a
    model performance to allow comparisons.
  • Verbal feedback from model performer/ teacher on
    specific aspects of my performance.

10
Description of G O S
  • Table form
  • Criteria, use of canon, simultaneous movement,
use of directions, levels, question and answer
    etc.
  • Columns headed extremely effective, effective,
    poor, not included
  • Ticks, crosses and comments to support evidence
  • Detailed comparison to model performer,
identifies strengths and weaknesses in my
    performance.

11
Improvement programme
  • Review dance and identify areas where I can
develop it by including dance forms previously
    missing from my dance.
  • Work on gradually developing my choreography
during class 3 sessions per week.
  • Each session will address one specific aspect of
my choreography eg use of canon!
  • Review my progress by continuously receiving
feedback on my use of various dance forms.
  • Further develop dance based on feedback received.
  • Time scaled to be complete for final assessment/
    performance in 6 weeks.

12
Improvement programme for mental qualities
  • Teacher taught methods to combat the negative
feelings. Deep breathing exercises slow down
heart rate and breathing. Calms me down, helps to
focus my mind on the dance.
  • Relaxation techniques - focuses the mind on a
positive experience which allows me to control
    any negative thoughts.
  • Imagery mental rehearsal of the dance or parts
of the dance before the performance.
  • Visualisation closing my eyes and visualising
the performance space with the audience and
lighting etc. imagine the performance and all the
    feelings associated with the experience.
  • Goal setting - short term perform to my class
mates, mid term perform to my year group, long
term perform for my final assessment to a large
    audience.
