Making a Powerpoint presentation

Choose your design

• Go to the Design tab to choose your theme
• Use the down-arrow to see more choices
• Choose a design that fits your topic
• Once you have a theme, you can modify the colors
  by scrolling down Colors

Insert a new slide

• From the Home tab choose New Slide
• Choose the desired style from the selection
• Save your work

Inserting a picture

• From the Insert tab choose Picture
• Go to the folder where your picture is stored,
  choose the file, then click on Insert
• Resize pictures from the corner ONLY

Custom animation

• You can animate text or images
• From the Animations tab, click on Custom
  Animation
• A Custom Animation box will show up to the right
• Choose Entrance under Add Effect then select the
  desired effect if you choose More Effects you
  can preview the effects

Slide transitions

• Add a nice touch to your presentation!
• Click on the Animations tab
• Click on the More down-arrow to see choices
• Click on the first slide and choose desired
  transition and speed
• If you want the same transition on all slides
  highlight all the slides before adding transition

Inserting sound

• This part is trickyyou need time and patience!
• Finish and save your presentation before adding
  sound
• Open Windows Media Player
• Under Rip Format choose WAV (Lossless)
• Insert CD
• When your CD is finished ripping, go to My
  Documents My Music then click on the
  performer then album and click on the song you
  want
• Copy and paste it into the same directory your
  PowerPoint presentation is located (important!)

Inserting sound

• Now go into your PowerPoint presentation
• Go to the page you want your music to start
• Choose Insert Sound Sound from File then
  choose the song
• Click on Automatically on the pop-up window
• Click on the audio icon then under Custom
  Animation click on the little down-arrow to the
  right of the song title and choose Effect Options

Inserting sound

• On the Effect tab under Start Playing make sure
  From beginning is selected
• If you want the song to play all the way through
  (assuming it is long enough) check Stop playing
  After then choose the number of slides in your
  presentation
• On the Timing tab choose Start with previous if
  you want your music to begin automatically
• Under Sound Settings check Hide icon

Keep in mind

• You must have your PowerPoint presentation and
  audio files in the same directory before you add
  audio to the presentation
• Test your presentation all the way through
• Save your files to a CD or flash drive
• If possible, test your presentation on equipment
  you will be using before giving the actual
  presentation
• Have fun giving your presentation!
