  • Provinces
  • 2 provinces did not hold Imbizo (N Cape
    North-West)
  • Most Imbizos were successful
  • More planned for areas, components and regions
    during Public Service Week
  • GCIS provincial reps provided support
  • National Departments
  • Imbizos held in 20 national depts
  • Some did not occur due to org size, relatively
    short notice of plans, similar plans
    conflicting arrangements
  • Depts committed to cascading Imbizos to all
    levels regions during Public Service Week

  • Held for public servants their families at
    Union Buildings
  • Participation of public servants not high (few
    hundred)
  • Reasons for poor turnout transportation,
    conflicting commitments, late notification of the
    event, etc.
  • Participating depts Pub Enterprises, Health,
    Corr Serv, GCIS, Soc Devel, Transport, Prov
    Local Govt, SAPS, Comm, DPSA, Eskom and Alexkor
    Ltd.
  • GTZ and Metropolitan Life provided donations to
    fund the various activities.
  • Many depts would like annual event

  • Public encouraged to visit depts institutions
  • Private sector, unions community orgs may get
    involved but not for sales or advertising
    purposes
  • Suggestion boxes made available for public
  • Depts institutions organise tours during times
    that suit them

Public Service Week 25 -28 Sept 2001
  • 2. IMBIZOS
  • Interpersonal engagements between MECs, HoDs,
    heads of institutions and the public they
    service, particularly frontline customers and
    staff
  • Government interacts with public on ground level
    - through the media etc.
  • 3. PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN
  • a. MECs HoDs communicate 'Batho Pele" through
    local media to reinforce principles
  • b. Increase Batho Pele profile
  • c. Alternate media will also be engaged
  • d. Distribute publicity material
