The Australian QualificationsFramework

• The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
  provides a comprehensive, nationally consistent
  yet flexible framework for all qualifications in
  post-compulsory education and training. The
  Framework was introduced Australia-wide on 1
  January 1995.
• The AQF recognises that the schools sector,
  vocational education and training sector and
  higher education sector each have different
  industry and institutional linkages. It connects
  these in a coherent single framework

  involve working with individuals with special
  needs such as mental health issues, aged care
  work, domestic violence, disability and child

• This a pathway qualification that may lead to a
  VET in Schools qualification, career
  clarification greater participation of equity
  groups.

• Cert II
• This is a pathway qualification into community
  services work.
• Workers in this occupational group work in
  residential facilities and/or in the community
  under direct or regular supervision within
  clearly defined organisational guidelines and
  service plans.
• These workers provide ancillary services such
  as catering, cleaning, laundry, gardening and
  home maintenance.
• These workers report directly to a supervisor
  and are not responsible for other workers.

• Cert III
• Workers in this occupational group work in a
  community services organisation under regular
  supervision within clearly defined organisational
  guidelines and service plans.
• These workers carry out activities related to
  the maintenance of an individuals personal care
  and/or other activities of living.
• These workers report directly to a supervisor
  and are not responsible for other workers.

• Cert IV
• Workers in this occupational group work in a
  community services organisation workers are
  required to work autonomously under the broad
  guidance of others, within clearly defined
  organisational guidelines and service plans.
• These workers provide a range of supports,
  services and interventions to clients that aim to
  enhance individual and groups well-being.
• These workers may have supervisory
  responsibility for a small number of other
  workers.

• Workers in this occupational group usually are
  involved in service delivery, as well as
  community promotion and/or projects.
• Workers operate at an advanced skill level.
• These workers may have responsibility for the
  supervision and/or coordination of other workers
  volunteers.

• Cert VI (Advanced Diploma)
• Workers in this occupational group operate at
  an advanced skill level to
• Provide specialist services
• Act as a resource for other workers
• Provide practice supervision of staff including
  volunteers
• Work intensively with clients
• Work with clients with complex needs
• Workers at this level may also work as managers
  of programs, services or service organisations in
  the community services sector.
