Description

• The red panda has a thick rusty coat. Some have
  fire colored red coats of fur. They even have a
  fox looking head! Their ears are pointed like a
  sharp pencil.

Habitat

• Red pandas live in thick, dark forests. They
  sometimes live in tall and big fat trees. Some
  forests that they live in are in China and Nepal.
  Red pandas stay in places where they stay safe
  and hidden from hunters.

Predators and Prey

• Red pandas eat bamboo shoots, fruit, roots, bird
  eggs, small rodents, and panda biscuits that they
  feed them in zoos. Red pandas are mostly
  vegetarians but some are not. They eat a healthy
  diet but put on a lot of pounds. Snow leopards
  eat red pandas along with yellow necked martens.

Life Cycle

• Red pandas breeding season is from January to
  March. The gestation period is 90-150 days (a
  gestation period is when a mommy has a baby in
  its tummy.) A red panda has 1-4 cubs at a time.
  For the red panda it has to wait 1 year until
  the next litter is born.

An Interesting Fact

• 7,000 red pandas get killed per year from hunters
  because they love their fur for clothes. They
  sell the fur for money.
