Control of ships by German Water Police

• The German Water Police is authorized to control
  ships, especially with regard to
• Ship and Crew Certificates
• Border control
• Oil record books
• In case of reasons for suspicion a PSC Inspection
  by the See-BG is requested
• In case of marine pollutions the German Maritime
  an Hydrographic Agency (BSH) is the German
  authority for the procecution

Publications of PSC Data

• All PSC Inspections are carried out with a data
  base software of the Paris MOU (SIRENAC 2000)
• The results are published in the annual year book
  (see also www.parismou.org)
• Further details are also published in the Blue
  Book
• With regard to the ships size and age
• Listed under MARPOL Annex I, Oil- and Chemical
  tankers and gas carriers and MARPOL Annex II

Publication in the See-BG Report Safety at Sea

• All deficiency reports of the German Water Police
  and the PSC surveys by the See-BG for ships
  operating in German territorial waters are
  evaluated by the Ship Safety Division of the
  See-BG (ships in national and international
  trade)
• These datas are published in the annual See-BG
  report Safety at Sea
• According to Article 11 of MARPOL 73/78 and
  Article 16 of the HELCOM Convention these datas
  are submitted by the BSH to the IMO in London and
  to the HELCOM secretariat
