AFDC----a regional knowledge platform
  • History
  • AFDC was founded on the basis of APEC finance and
    development program (AFDP) aiming to strengthen
    capacity building in the APEC region. The World
    Bank joined China as the co-sponsor of the AFDP
    in February, 2002.
  • In 2004, after three year successful operation of
    AFDP, President Hu Jintao announced the
    establishment the Asia-Pacific Finance and
    Development Center (AFDC), at the APEC Summit in
    Chile, in order to continue China's contribution
    to strengthening institutional capacity building
    in the Asia-Pacific region.

    the next three years

  • one international training workshop every year
  • Each training lasts for 2 weeks
  • 50-70 trainees for each workshop
  • Training will focus on capacity building as well
    as network building among practitioners
  • Training contents are carefully designed to meet
    specific needs of regions developing countries
  • Invite top ME experts in the region to be
    faculty members
  • Encourage experience sharing among all
    participants
  • Instruct trainees to work on real cases in the
    region
