Chapter 4 Summary

• E. is woken from her sleep by shouts that her
  home in on fire. No one can find Abuelita.
  Miguel goes back, finally coming out with her.
• Tio Luis again proposes to Mama. He also tells
  her E. will be sent to a boarding school if they
  marry.
• Mama tells E. she has no intentions of marrying.
  Alfonso tells them they are going to U.S. Mama
  and E. will also go with them. Abuelita hurt her
  ankle in the fire, and will stay with her sisters
  who are nuns in a convent.
• Nuns provide Mama and E. with travel documents
  and clothes.
• Few nights later, E., mama, Hortensia, Alfonso,
  and Miguel leave under the cover of darkness.
