  point-of-contact for the collection and timely
  exchange of accurate, comprehensive student
  information

• Created in 1993 as National Student Loan
  Clearinghouse -- an independent non-profit
  corporation.
• Managed by a 17-member Board, broadly
  representing higher education and financial aid
  providers.
• Advised by Clearinghouse Advisory Committee, a
  15-member group of college and university
  Registrar, Financial Aid, Admissions and
  Institutional Research executives.

• Created in 1993, the name changed in 1999 from
  the National Student Loan Clearinghouse to the
  National Student Clearinghouse to emphasize
  services extending beyond enrollment reporting to
  the student loan industry.
• High School analysis service launched in 2004.
