  • Keep manure out of parking areas

  • You buy or board animals
  • Cattle return to the herd after being off the
    farm
  • Your pastures share a fenceline with a neighbors
    pastures
  • Your cattle are transported by someone else or in
    someone elses vehicle

Reduce risk when buying cattle
  • Know the source of the cattle, including
    transport to your farm
  • Introduce new cattle properly

  • Know the health status of source herd
  • Get specificvaccination history
  • Avoid animalsmixed with othercattle before the
    sale
  • Buy open heifers
  • Transport in your own vehicle, cleaned before and
    after shipping

    shared feeding, watering or grooming equipment
