Title: Word Order

1
Word Order
2
  • Because so much of the information is contained
in the verb. Word order is not as important.

3
Ne questions
  • When asking a simple question the ne which
indicates a question should be the second word in
the sentence or as close to the front as
    possible.
  • Gbekte ne? Are you hungry?
  • Gwimaji ne wabek? Are you going to leave
    tomorrow?
  • Dawewgemek ne ggizhya ga gishpnedoyen. Did you go
to the store and buy something.

4
Put the most important thing out front
  • It is a good technique to get into the habit of
doing of putting the most important thing out
front. So if someone asked you where you are
going you would put the place out front.
  • If someone asked you when you were leaving you
would put the time out front.

5
Kind of backward to English
  • It ends up seeming a bit backwards to english.
  • A note of caution would be to not say something
in exactly the order you say it in english.
  • Although it wont technically be wrong it will be
quite clear to a speaker you are new at the
    language.

6
If there are a number of actors in a sentence it
could be said or written in a number of ways all
right but one best case.
  • All of these sentences equal the same thing but
the first one is the most appropriate. I could
have written down a few others but didnt have
    room
  • Dawewgemgok ngi zhya ga gishpnedoyan anet
    mskekiwen nJohn.
  • Ngi-zhya dawewgemgok ga gishpnedoyan anet
    mskekiwen John.
  • John ngi-gishpnedon anet mskekiwen ga zhyayan.
  • Anet mshkekiwen dawewgemgok ngi zhya ga
    gishpnedoyan John.

7
Remember to get into the habit of not saying it
just like English that way you will be a better
speaker
  • It will take a little while to get used to this.
