A cartographer prepares maps, charts, and
drawings from aerial photographs and survey data.
They also conduct map research and investigate
topics, such as how people use maps.
3Tools of Cartography
A Cartographer uses manual and computerized
drafting instruments, standard mathematical
formulas, photogrammetric techniques, and
precision stereo plotting apparatus.
4Salary
Depending on your amount of knowledge, salary can
start at 34,500 and go up to 66,500.
5Education
A bachelors degree is required, and engineering
or physical science are recommended.
6Education
Collage programs should include courses in
technical math, surveying and measurements,
navigation, drafting and photogrametry and
mapping.
7Preliminary Courses
High school students should take courses in
geometry, algebra and trigonometry, mechanical
drawing, and computer science.
8Application to Rose Bay
The way that cartography applies to the park, is
that next year well be mapping the entire area
of the bay.
