2WHAT IS RINGETTE?
- Fast-paced team sport on ice in which players use
a straight stick to pass, carry, and shoot a
rubber ring to score goals
3BASIC INFORMATION
- Ringette is played on any standard size hockey
rink. - Five skaters and a goalie are on the ice for each
team, unless of course there are penalties being
served. - The object is to score goals on the net of your
opponent.
4RULES
- NO BODY CONTACT
- Must pass to a teammate over the blue line.
- Zone Restrictions
- Only three skaters from either team may enter the
end zone. This promotes playmaking and strategy. - Goal Crease
- Only the goaltender may enter the goal crease
which is 8 ft radius. - Free Pass
- Play is started with a free pass.
- Penalties are strictly enforced.

- Bunny ages 4-6
- Novice ages 7-9
- Petite ages 10-11
- Tween ages 12-13
- Junior ages 14-15
- Belle ages 16-18
- Deb ages 19-23
- Intermediate ages 23-30
- Masters ages 30

7GOALTENDERS
- Ringette goaltenders mostly use a gloved hand.
- This gives them better control when throwing the
ring back into play. - The crease is 8ft radius and only the goaltender
is allowed in that space.
8HOUSE LEAGUE
House league teams are the grass roots of
Ringette.
Designed to learn the game and fun.
9ALL-STARS
- Ringette offers competitive teams for all-star
calibre players. - Most house league teams play C, B, and A.
- AA calibre teams are usually provincial teams.
- AA level players also play for Team Canada.
10LONG TERM PLAY
Ringette can be played at any age. Many players
from Deb to Masters have been playing for many
years. Ringette offers fun and recreation for
these players
11REFEREES
- Ringette uses the two referee system.
- There are no linesmen.
- Both Referees are able to call penalties.
12MALES IN RINGETTE
It doesnt matter if you are male or female,
Ringette is for everyone.
13TEAMWORK AND FAIR PLAY
No matter who wins, theres always a handshake at
the end of the game.
14CANADIAN RINGETTE CHAMPIONSHIPS
- Prince George BC held the 2000 Canadian Ringette
Championships. - Teams from 10 Provinces competed in the Junior,
Belle, Deb, and Intermediate divisions.

15INTERNATIONAL
- Ringette is played in Canada, USA, Finland,
France, Sweden and Denmark. - Some games can have FULL arenas.
