  • Office of Institutional Assessment and Diversity
    to help with program assessment.
  • We currently have a total of 200 students in our
various REU site programs but it is clear that we
have capacity to make substantial increases in
    these numbers.

Program Coordination
  • Office of Associate Dean for Undergraduate
Research (ADUR) has setup a listserve to help REU
coordinators get the assistance that they need to
run their programs. If you want to sign up send
an e-mail to ugr_at_tamu.edu indicating your
    interest.
  • The REU coordinators meet periodically with the
ADUR to discuss common problems and develop
    solutions.
  • The ADURs Office puts out a summer calendar with
dates of interest to the various programs. Again
you are referred to our website for details.

5
Web-based Application processing
  • The VPRs Office is developing a web-based
application. We are aiming to have this be
available for the 2009 summer application season
to those programs wishing to use this template
    through the ADURs Office.
  • The ADUR works to keep all programs abreast of
    any changes in the application/registration
process to help expedite the admissions
    processing.

6
Admissions, registration, housing and
transportation
  • Once REU students have been selected for the
program, the ADURs Office works with these
programs to provide the information needed to
  • Get students through the admissions process.
(You will need to decide whether or not your
students will need to be registered for credit or
will be treated like conference participants.
This has ramifications regarding access to some
student only resources on campus and whether
    tuition must be charged.
  • Set up housing arrangements for your students.
Students in these programs are housed in the same
dorm area to facilitate interaction between
    programs.
  • Assist in processing of summer stipends/scholarshi
ps through payroll or student financial aid.

7
