Title: Alcatel 7770

1
Alcatel 7770
  • The Alcatel 7770 at Cern is now connected to the
Datatag testbed and to the CERN production
    Network
  • It receives the full BGP routing table and it is
ready to be connected to the VTHD line to Lyon
(in case this option could be interesting for
    VTHD and INRIA).
  • QoS
  • Based on DiffServ model
  • It couldn't be a AS border router, i.e. DSCP
    (re)marking is not supported.

2
Alcatel 1670
  • The 25th of February 2003 the STM16 line from
CERN to Starligth will be reconfigured in a 16 x
VC4 stm16 (not concatenated) in order to be
connected to the Alcatel 1670 multiplexers.
  • Then two cross connections between the
Gigaethernet ports will be defined. This will
provide two layer 2 indipendent 1GBEth
    connections between CERN and STARLIGHT.

Network Scenarios

  • More flexibility each connection could be used
at L2 or L3, one indipendently from the other.
  • L2
  • Each link could connect two remote LANs
  • The links could be bundled together to have a
    2Gbps trunk
  • L3
  • Two different paths for the same location
    (backup?)
  • Equal cost path load balancing vs. trunking

Available Interfaces
  • After the STM16 configuration there will be
    available
  • Alcatel 7770 in Geneva and Chicago 2xSTM16 and
    7x1GBE
  • Cisco 7606 in Geneva and Chicago 1xSTM16 and
    several 1GBE
  • Juniper M10 in Chicago 1xSTM16 and 1xGBE

these GBE interfaces cannot be connected to a
switch.
5
Juniper routers
  • The STM16 backup connection to Geant is now
connected to the Juniper M10 router. The line has
been moved from a CERN production Cisco 7600
since the latter doesn't support MPLS TE. This is
necessary to define the CCC connection between
    CERN and CNAF.
  • The LSPs needed for the CCC tunnel are already
configured, but there are still some problems and
the L2 connection is still not running.
