A Moveable Wall Maze For a Ball
?This maze will consist of movable parts which
hang on a metallic wall by magnets. ?This maze
will have half a dozen parts that can be moved
around and interchanged. ?Kids will be able to
throw the pieces onto the wall and see how a ball
travels down the maze depending on their setup.

Supplies Before

Design for Part 1
  • ?A long rigid piece for the ball to travel in
    straight lines
  • ?Cut first 5 piece of pvc into 10 6 pieces
    with one magnet attached to each
  • ?Cut other 5 piece into 5 12 pieces with two
    magnets on each

Design for part 2
  • ?Using Flexible Vinyl Tubing
  • ?2 pieces that are 2 long each
  • ?3 pieces that are 1 each

Funnel piece
  • ?A large funnel
  • ?Cut bottom of funnel so that the ball can fit
    through the hole
  • ?Attached with wood nails through the plastic

Wood to hold magnets
  • ? 3 x 4 piece of wood
  • ? Drill a hole for the magnet to rest in
  • ?Attach it to the pvc and Flexible Vinyl Tubing
    with screws

Obstacles
  • ?Unable to find and purchase 2-hole straps
  • ?Copper straps let the pipe slide out
  • ?Flexible tubings inner diameter was not
    measured as a circle
  • ?The slow realization that you cant always work
    as a full group
  • ?BG is not open on Sundays

Construction
  • ?We cut the pieces of pvc and vinyl with hacksaw
  • ?Sanded pieces to remove excess plastic
  • ?Cut wood into 3 x 4 x 1 pieces
  • ?Sanded wood to remove rough edges

  • ?Paint wood applied multiple coats
  • ?Drill hole 0.188 deep and 1.205 in diameter
    for magnet assembly
  • ?Drilled through pipe to attach to wood
  • ?Nailed in magnet assembly
  • ?Screwed the pipe to the wood
