Math Team

•  
• Middletown High School has a very successful Math
  Team.  This team is a member of the DUSO league. 
  The team competes against students from Dutchess,
  Ulster, Sullivan, and Orange counties.  During
  the last five years the team has qualified for
  Sectionals four times and won our division four
  times.  Our students are among the top scorers in
  the league and we routinely have students who are
  picked to compete at the state meet.

Chess Club

• Middletown High School sponsors a Chess Club,
  which is advised by a mathematics teacher.  This
  new club competes against students from other
  schools.  New members are always welcomed.

Success in Mathematics

• Mathematics
• is NOT
• a spectator sport. 
• All students need to practice
• in order to improve
• their skills. 
• Therefore,
• homework in mathematics is necessary, essential,
  and regularly assigned.

Calculators

• Graphing calculators are used in math classes.
• Students who are in a course taking a regents
• exam in January or June are issued graphing
  calculators. 
• Students in other math
• classes are given graphing calculators to use
  in class.

Technology in the Classroom

• The Mathematics Department integrates technology
  into their lessons through the use of SMART
  Boards, Computer Software and Graphing
  Calculators
