A Brief Overview
  • A two-year program designed to prepare the high
    school student for an entry level position in the
    workplace and/or further automotive education
  • No prior automotive background is required
  • ASE-based curriculum congruent with industry
    standards
  • Hands-on work as well as classroom instruction
  • Certification through NA3SAs ASE style testing

Schedule
  • Level 1 740-1020 am
  • Level 2 1130-210 pm
  • Students are transported to our campus via their
    home school
  • Sessions are 2 hours and 40 minutes in length
  • Home school and MCVSD schedules may vary

Credits Earned
  • Level 1 Automotive Technology -10 credits, CTE
    Math-5 credits, CTE Science, 5 credits.
  • Level 2 Automotive Technology -10 credits, CTE
    Math-5 credits, CTE Science, 5 credits.
  • Total program credits 80
  • Math and Science are mandatory components

Math (CTE) CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION
  • Combination of algebra, geometry, and numerical
    concepts. 
  • Mathematical understanding within the
    vocational/technical area
  • Preparation to successfully meet the New Jersey
    High School Proficiency Aptitude Test (HSPA)
  • Concepts are introduced by highly qualified math
    instructors and reinforced by the classroom
    instructor through hands on application.

    vocational/technical

    science instructors and reinforced by the
    classroom instructor through hands on

  • Exposure to other areas including HVAC, Manual
    and Automatic drivelines, alternative fuel
    vehicles, and hybrid electric vehicles.

SHOP SAFETY
  • Proper tool use
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Proper lift use
  • Proper use of all shop machinery
  • Proper handling of chemicals

Structured Learning Program
  • Each student has the opportunity to obtain
  • a paid job or unpaid internship.
  • Positions are monitored on site by our Structured
    Learning Coordinator.
  • Students may be able to work during class hours
    for up to two days per week.
  • Valuable real world experience is gained.

School Clubs and Activities
  • Skills USA A national organization designed to
    showcase the abilities and skills of our young
    people in vocational training. Club sponsored
    fundraising and community service activities
    build leadership skills. Annual trade skill
    competition in the Garden State Exhibit Center in
    the spring a source of pride for our students.
  • Ford/AAA Auto Skills a nationally sponsored
    event in which students will compete to
    demonstrate their automotive-specific
    troubleshooting skills and knowledge base.
