Important information
  • A request must have an
  • OCLC number and YEAR
  • or
  • ISSN number and YEAR
  • in order to match in the RapidILL database.
  • Having both an OCLC number and ISSN is fine, but
    at least one is required.

Rapid in ILLiad

Begin by opening your ILLiad Awaiting Request
Processing queue

Verify that the request has a standard number
(ISSN or OCLC) and year.

Query the RapidILL database bylaunching the
Rapid client.

The Rapid client icon looks like a small yellow
ball.
Some libraries put the icon on the browser
toolbar, as shown above others put it in the
Start menu as shown below. Wherever it is, now it
the time to click it!

    holdings in the database

  • Notice that the number of matches found andthe
    Rapid request number appear in the box.

The RapidILL toolbar sits at the top of your
browser window.

In Request Manager, choose an article request to
send. The following screens will follow request
2 below.

Locally Held Identification
  • Notice that your librarys call number and
    location appear in the locally held
    identification notification box.

Duplicate Requests
  • The RapidILL system automatically checks each new
    request toinsure it is unique and is not a
    duplicate of a current Rapid request.
  • The duplicate check goes back 5 working days.
