2Important information
- A request must have an
- OCLC number and YEAR
- or
- ISSN number and YEAR
- in order to match in the RapidILL database.
- Having both an OCLC number and ISSN is fine, but
at least one is required.
3Rapid in ILLiad
4Begin by opening your ILLiad Awaiting Request
Processing queue
5Verify that the request has a standard number
(ISSN or OCLC) and year.
6Query the RapidILL database bylaunching the
Rapid client.
7The Rapid client icon looks like a small yellow
ball.
Some libraries put the icon on the browser
toolbar, as shown above others put it in the
Start menu as shown below. Wherever it is, now it
the time to click it!

- If the standard number/year combinationmatch
holdings in the database

- Notice that the number of matches found andthe
Rapid request number appear in the box.
This informationassures you thatthe request
hasbeen sent.

10Clicking Import Information
11adds the Rapid request number to the ILLiad
record andputs Rapid into the Lending String.
12Clicking ILLiads Request Sent button completes
this request.
13Rapid in FirstSearch
14The RapidILL toolbar sits at the top of your
browser window.
15In Request Manager, choose an article request to
send. The following screens will follow request
2 below.
16Verify that the request has the required standard

23Locally Held Identification
- Notice that your librarys call number and
location appear in the locally held
identification notification box.
24Duplicate Requests
- The RapidILL system automatically checks each new
request toinsure it is unique and is not a
duplicate of a current Rapid request. - The duplicate check goes back 5 working days.
25Duplicate Requests
- Requests identified as duplicates are flagged
with a pop-up box like this one.

- The Rapid request number of the original request
is returned
