Status of Loaded Staves in Genova
  • Stave 4004 - 18/08/2004Pre-production stave,
    completely characterized, data summary available
    athttp//atlas1.ge.infn.it/pixprod/StaveAssembly/
    20212000014004/SUMMARY/
  • Stave 4028 -27/10/2004Initial production stave
1, completely characterized. On this stave we
had a power fail on the chiller that had the
consequence of over heating 6 modules that were
powered. Temperature on the modules NTC reached
8090ºC. All the modules tested again after the
accident and did not show damages. data summary

  • Stave 4024 - 22/11/2004Initial production stave
2, LOAD test performed, Burn-in. STAVE test
underway. The LOAD test have been performed with
a new set of analysis cuts to overcome the effect
of HV bias off in the SURF. Survey has been
made, but there was large difference in
temperature (6ºC) between loading and survey
rooms. Because all screws were left tight there
is a suspect that this induced a deformation to
the stave due to the large CTE of the aluminum
cradle. The module position in Z is 1520 µm,
while in X there is a larger error that we think
is partially induced by change of bow due to
thermal effect. When the STAVE test will be
finished a new survey will be made.Partially
    filled data summary tableshttp//atlas1.ge.infn.i

  • Stave 4048 - 20/12/2004Initial production stave
3, stave loaded, now under survey.

Robot Upgrade
  • To improve the precision of the loading robot, 3
additions to the setup are under way
  • Temperature will be monitored by a temperature
logger with 4 channels. Temperature probes have
been put in thermal contact with support parts of
the robot and also air temperature is monitored.
  • A linear encoder from Heidenhain, mod. LS-487C,
having 5 µm precision, have been ordered. The
encoder has a travel of 92 cm and will be used to
monitor and correct the linear Z movement of the
robot stage. The encoder parts will be in genova
    by mid February.
  • A digital measuring microscope has been bought
and it will be used to measure the position of
the modules in the garage position or on stave.
The microscope is from Keyence, mod.VHX-100 with
    two zoom lens (25175 X and 100100 X). It has 18
MPixels resolution and calibrated measurements in
the image plane. Also digital image processing
are available in the system, like depth of focus
increase and several options for image enhance.

Electrical Test
  • The electrical test for LOAD and STAVE is
implemented using 2 SURFs boards. It is planned
to add other 2 to completely automatize the
system as soon we will receive them from LBL. The
movement of the source is controlled under
    ambush.
  • For next stave the test should run in completely
    automatic way.
  • Some new analysis cuts have been defined to
overcome to the "bias effect" on HV off when a
module is tested with the SURF.
