How Persuasion was used During WWII

• The most common way persuasion was used at this
  time was through propaganda
• Propaganda has been used throughout history as a
  way of influencing what people think
• By the symbols or words used in propaganda, it
  can make a person feel angry, sympathetic,
  empathic, or any other number of feelings

• Most people remember propaganda used more during
  war time
• Propaganda was used to make people feel more
  patriotic
• It was also used to build on the fear of people
  so they would follow a certain way of life- this
  was used by the Nazi's mostly

How Propaganda was made

• Behind all propaganda is the artist
  (propagandist)
• They use images and colors that would evoke
  certain feelings in people and cause them to take
  action

• The action for a person to join the armed forces
  to fight the evil in another country or to work
  in a factory to help support the war effort
• It was also used to influence the way that people
  thought about the war

• Most of the propaganda posters and words that
  were used during the first part of WWII was
  geared towards men
• The propaganda that was geared towards men used
  masculine strength, pictures of powerful men and
  mighty machines

• The posters were to illustrate Americas ability
  to channel its formidable strength into the war
  effort
• American muscle was presented in proud display of
  national confidence

• The government launched an aggressive propaganda
  campaign to gain public support
• Some of the nations foremost intellectuals,
  artist and film makers became warriors on that
  front
