Nots Negatives in the Scriptures
  • The nots of the Bible cannot be untied or
    loosed
  • (Matt 2435) Heaven and earth shall pass away,
but my words shall not pass away.
  • We cannot untie what God has tied
  • (Deut 42) Ye shall not add unto the word which
I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought
from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the
Lord your God which I command you.

3
Not by faith only
  • (James 224) Ye see then how that by works a man
is justified, and not by faith only.
  • This little word not sufficiently refutes the
doctrine of salvation by faith only!
  • Man is Justified by Faith
  • (Rom 51) Therefore being justified by faith, we
have peace with God through our Lord Jesus
    Christ.

4
Not by faith only
  • He is saved by faith
  • (John 316) For God so loved the world, that he
gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have
    everlasting life.
  • But not faith only saved by faith when faith
    obeys
  • (Gal 56) For in Jesus Christ neither
    circumcision availeth anything, nor
uncircumcision but faith which worketh by love.

5
Not of works
  • (Eph 28-9) For by grace are ye saved through
faith and that not of yourselves it is the gift
of God Not of works, lest any man should boast.
  • Contradiction? NO
  • (James 218) I will shew thee my faith by my
    works.
  • What work would show faith? Obedience!
  • (Eph 29) Not of works, lest any man should
    boast
  • What work would allow boasting? Salvation
    earned by ones own merit

6
Not of works
  • (Eph 28) that not of yourselves
  • Peter says
  • (Acts 240) And with many other words did he
testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from
    this untoward generation.
  • Not of yourselves means that you gave yourself
    access to salvation
  • Save yourselves means to take advantage of the
gift that God has given us take hold of the
    access!

Not of works
(Eph 216) And that he might reconcile both unto
God in one body by the cross, having slain the
enmity thereby.
(Rom 116) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of
Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation
to every one that believeth to the Jew first,
and also to the Greek.
(Heb 116) But without faith it is impossible to
please him for he that cometh to God must
believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of
them that diligently seek him.
  • Not of works rebukes the contention that man
can be saved by morality alone.
  • If one could be saved this way he would be saved
    without
  • Faith
  • Obedience
  • Apart from the church

Not everyone that saith
  • (Matt 721) Not every one that saith unto me,
Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of
heaven but he that doeth the will of my Father
    which is in heaven.
  • Need more than just a sinners prayer to be
    acceptable to God
  • (Heb 59) And being made perfect, he became the
author of eternal salvation unto all them that
    obey him.

9
Not by sight
  • (2 Cor 57) For we walk by faith, not by sight.
  • Hear of people give stories of miracles to prove
    their salvation
  • Christianity is a religion of faith not sight
Faith comes from the word of God
  • (John 2030-31) And many other signs truly did
Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are
not written in this book But these are written,
that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ,
the Son of God and that believing ye might have
    life through his name.

10
Not by sight
  • (2 Cor 57) For we walk by faith, not by sight.
  • Hear of people give stories of miracles to prove
    their salvation
  • Christianity is a religion of faith not sight
Faith comes from the word of God
  • (Rom 1017) So then faith cometh by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God.

11
Not be conformed to this world
  • (Rom 122) And be not conformed to this world
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
  • Nothing has the power to untie this not! must
    not conform

12
Not be conformed to this world
  • (1 John 215-17) Love not the world, neither the
things that are in the world. If any man love the
world, the love of the Father is not in him. For
all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh,
and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life,
is not of the Father, but is of the world. And
the world passeth away, and the lust thereof but
he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

13
Not be conformed to this world
  • (James 44) Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know
ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity
with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of
the world is the enemy of God.
  • (Matt 624) No man can serve two masters for
either he will hate the one, and love the other
or else he will hold to the one, and despise the
other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

14
I know you not
  • (Matt 2512) But he answered and said, Verily I
say unto you, I know you not.
  • He will NOT know those that are NOT prepared!
  • (Phil 212) Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have
always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but
now much more in my absence, work out your own
    salvation with fear and trembling.
  • (1 Cor 1012) Wherefore let him that thinketh he
standeth take heed lest he fall.
