2course description
Pre-AP chemistry is designed to prepare
students to take Advanced Placement science
courses. Being more rigorous than Chemistry I,
students will be required to use critical
thinking skills to solve complex problems.
Students need to have good math skills and be
able to memorize and understand chemical names,
formulas and concepts. It is highly recommended
that students also be enrolled in Pre-AP Algebra
II.
3supplies needed
Bring these things to class every day
folder or binder for storing papers
composition notebook for lab work (no spirals)
pen and pencil (all lab work must be done in
ink!)
needed at home
scientific calculator students will be provided
with a calculator to use during tests and quizzes
textbook for reading leave it at home
4Grading System
50 Tests. two tests each six weeks if you
fail a test, you may
re-take and get
up to a 70. This can only be
done once during a six weeks.
35 Daily quizzes, reviews, homework,
participation, etc.
(lowest daily grade dropped at the end of
the six weeks)
15 Lab lab notebooks collected near the
end of the six weeks.
5absence policy
You have 3 days upon returning to school to
make up the work you missed.
tutorial times
800 830 a.m. every day
345- 430 p.m. B day only (and days before
a test)
Students are not allowed to come in during
any other time (ex my conference or during
another class)
6class rules
Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell
rings.
Remain quiet during these times -when the
teacher is explaining the material or giving
instructions - during tests and quizzes -
when another student asks a question
Treat others with respect no name
calling, swearing or rude talk.
No fooling around in the lab
7consequences
verbal warning
move assigned seat
call to parents/conference
office referral
serious offenses( fighting, unsafe lab behavior,
etc.) will warrant an immediate office referral
