Title: Dear Kimberly,
1Kimberly Antornet 21 Jupiter Florida 33401
Dear Kimberly, Take a telescope and try to
find me by the constellation Andromeda. Andromeda
is known as the Princess of Ethiopia, or she is
also known as the Chained Lady. Did you know that
Andromeda is visible between latitudes of 90 and
-40 degrees north. It sounds kind of weird ,but
the four named stars are Alpheratz, Mirach,
Adhil, and Almaak. This is the story of
Andromeda. Andromedas mother insulted the queen
of gods by her beauty, so the god sent the sea
monster to destroy Ethiopia. Andromedas parents
could give up their daughter or pay. So her
father agreed. Andromedas parents chained her up
to rock by the shore of the Mediterranean beach.
Also Andromedas true love , Perseus, saved her.
But that was a story the Ancient Greeks told.
Your cousin, Miranda P.S. I will
be late for dinner, so call my mom. P.S.S. If you
want to see Andromeda, look up in the sky during
autumn.
This is the constellation Andromeda and the
picture it makes up.
2Mom and Dad Sunny Avenue Tampa, Florida 08078
Dear Mom and Dad, Did you know that the
asteroid belt has more than 40,000 asteroids in
it? And just one asteroid can be several hundred
miles wide! The asteroid belt is the distance
between Jupiter and Mars. And the revolution for
the asteroid belt around our Sun can take up to 6
Earth years! But my favorite fact is that an
asteroid named K-T mass could have caused the
dinosaurs extinction. You are thinking, how?
Well, the asteroid could have caused severe
climatic change. This was called a severe
asteroid impact. Another cool fact is that the
first asteroid called Ceres is also the biggest
asteroid in our solar system. Love,
Miranda Daab
P.S. If you want an asteroid, you might want to
go to the Sun. Because thats were most of them
are found!
Its an asteroid, so watch out!
3Mr. Finkleburg 100 Cooper Lane Spring Field,
CT 06258 Dear Mr. Finkleburg, Can you
guess what constellation Im studying? Its
abbreviation is Cnc. its known as The Crab, and
its between Leo and Gemini .If you guessed
Cancer, youre right. Cancer has a symbol which
looks like a four Cancer is a constellation of
Zodiac! Look up in the sky in March theres
Cancer. Its visible between latitudes 90 to 60
degrees. Look up Mr. Finkleburg try to find the
stars
Acibens, Allarf ,Asellus, Boreais, Asileus,
Austrails, and Tegemen. Bye!
Your friend,
Sarah P.S When you find the stars look for a
ship there and wave! P.S.S Send up a coat. Its
cold up here!
This is a picture of Cancer the constellation.
4Mrs. Blubber pop 987 Popper Lane Beverly Hills,
CA. 03034
Dear Mrs. Blubber pop, I am here in
space looking at comets. Did you know about
100,000 million comets orbit the sun? A comet is
made up of dirty ice, dust, and gas! When a comet
gets too close to the sun it melts. I sure dont
want to get too close. You know, if you see a
comet it is all lit up. A comet doesnt give off
any of its own light. What seems to be light from
the comet is actually reflected from the sun.
Light bounces off the ice particles like a
mirror. Scientist believe that comets are left
over from when the sun and planets were formed.
Did you know a comets tail can be millions of
kilometers in length? The amount of matter a
comet contains can be held in a large book bag.
You can see at least one comet every 76 years or
less if youre lucky.
Your friend, Maddie
This is a picture of a comet kicking up dust.
5Michael David 11 Beverly Hills Los Angeles,
California 90212
Dear Michael, Heres a quiz. What planet
has life and is made up of 70 water? Also which
planet is the third farthest planet from the sun?
If you guessed Earth you really know your
planets. Earth is called the water planet because
it is mostly made up of water. But its not all
water. 30 percent is land, and 15 of that land
is volcanoes. Earth is the only planet with
oxygen. That means that you and I and animals and
people have air to breathe. Do you know what
winter, fall, spring, and summer are? Theyre
seasons! Earth can produce seasons because Earth
is on an axis. The axis is tilted and that tilt
is what gives us the coldness in winter and the
hotness in the summer. Uh-Oh our signal waves are
breaking up I wish I could tell you lots more
bye!!
Love, Makenzie

6Uncle Bobby 16 Starry Lane Bozeman ,Montana 59718
Dear Uncle Bobby, The solar system is
amazing! Guess what my favorite planet is?
Jupiter and it is the largest planet in the solar
system. It is also a gas planet. Maybe Ill move
there someday (just kidding). Jupiter also has as
many as 63 moons, and one of the moons is named
Ivo. A real cool thing is that it sometimes
changes color. Did you know that Jupiter has a
storm on it called the Great Red Spot. It is
24,860 miles or 40,000 km across. In Roman Greek
mythology Jupiters name was Zeus. Isnt that
cool! It has thin rings around it, and the
atmosphere is a thin surface layer. Im having so
much fun! Wish you were here.
Love, Isabella
This is Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar
system.
7Dear Mom, Im writing to you from the
planet Mars. This is a really red planet. Mars
dirt contains clay and theres a lot of iron in
clay. The iron gives Mars its red color. It is
very, very cold here. I think you should send me
another winter coat and some mittens. The strong
winds blow the dust around so you had better send
me some goggles, too. Can you believe meteorites
from Mars have been found on Earth? This
seventh, largest planet in the solar system has
two tiny moons named Phobos and Deimos. Well, I
have got to go now because its getting hard to
type because my fingers are so cold. See you in
a few weeks.
With love from Mars,
Daniel

8Fred Wuggly 3 Crown St. Stafford Springs, CT
06076
Dear Fred, Mercury is amazing! It has
big holes called craters. They were made by
meteorites. Things that miss planets should be
called meteorwrongs! Mercury travels around the
sun faster than any other planet. It takes 88
days to orbit the sun once. It is a lot of fun
on Mercury because there is a lot less gravity
here. You practically fly! Mercury has no water
or ice on it. It is the smallest planet. It is so
small that its one third the size of Earth!
Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. Your
best friend, Shane P.S. Can you send me my pogo
stick so I can jump really high?
There is a dark side and a light side of Mercury.
9Mr. Dib dub Doodle St. Windsor, CT.
Dear Mr. Dib dub, I am on the
Moon. Its chilly and interesting to look at the
Earth from here! It is also cool to see the
craters up close. These craters have unusual
names like Mare Foecunditatis and Oceanus
Procellarum. Something you dont know is that
they are called The Seas of the Moon, here are
some of these craters Mare Imbrium, Mare
Humorum, Mare Nectaris, Mare Crisium, Mare
Frigoris, Mare Nubium, Mare Tranquilitatis ,and
Mare Serenitatis. The Moon is Earths natural
satellite but not like a mechanical one, a body
that takes light from the Sun at night and lights
up the night. The Moon has no air or atmosphere
so its impossible to breath! I bet you didnt
know that its gravity is 17 of Earths and the
density is 3/5 of Earths (or 3,340 kg. / m.3).
Every day the Moon faces Earth on the same side
all the time. Im doing great on the Moon and
will be back very soon.
Your friend, Justin P.S. Could you send me
some food? I want to try to float while I eat!
The Moon is being lit up by the Sun.
10 Dear Ron Weasley, Greetings people of earth!
Did you think fish were only found in water?
Well, this constellation is definitely an
exception! Right now I am standing on Pisces, a
formation of stars resembling two fish tied
together with cord. This is meant to be like the
Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite and her son,
Eros, who were turned into fish to escape a
battle. The stars making up this fishy
constellation are Alpha Psc (Psc is the
abbreviation for Pisces), Beta Psc, and Ominicron
Psc. This starry pattern is neither bright nor
easy to spot, but if you feel like looking for
it, 9 o clock P.M. is the best time to look.
Did you know, if your birthday is in March,
youre a Pisces? This is because Pisces is one
of the constellations in the zodiac, a group of
stars each belonging to a month. Have fun on
Earth!
Sincerely,
Anna P.S. Could you send me my fishing
pole?
This is a picture of Pisces. (its in the center).
11Mr. Man 28 Franticy Lane Bahamas
Dear Mr. Man, Im out in space exploring Pluto.
Pluto is a Dwarf Planet. I was surprised when I
got here because there were no short weird aliens
wondering around. While Pluto is closer to the
sun, it has an atmosphere. The methane and
nitrogen frozen at the poles thaw out, rise, and
temporarily forms an atmosphere Im getting a
little cold. There could not be life on Pluto.
Well, that kind of explains why theres no midget
aliens. In Roman mythology, Pluto is the god of
the underworld. In Greek mythology, Pluto is
known as Hades, ruler of the underworld. The
planet received this name perhaps because it is
so far from the sun that its always in darkness.
Pluto is smaller than seven of the solar systems
moons.
Love,
Johnathon P.S.
Its cold, so bring me some hot cocoa before I
freeze and become part of Pluto.

12Dr. Science 314 Solar System Blvd. Miami, Florida
49706
Dear Dr. Science, Ill give you
two hints about where I am. The first hint is Im
on the sixth planet from the sun, and the second
hint is the planet has 1000 rings made of ice and
dust particles. The particles can vary from
pebble size to house size. If you guessed Saturn,
youre right! Did you know that Saturn takes
29.46 Earth years to get around the Sun? It also
takes 10 hours and 40 minutes to rotate fully
around. I still cant believe that Im on the
second largest planet in the Milky Way Galaxy
(that we discovered.) At night, if I can see
through the clouds, I see some of Saturns 18
moons. I miss home and cant wait to come home
(if someone ever rescues me).
Sincerely,
TREVOR SIMPSON
In this picture, Saturn is in ultraviolet light.
13Charleen Ulmer 16 North Washington
St. Belchertown,
Dear Grandma, Scorpio is huge from space. I
hope he doesnt sting me! Scorpio rises when
Orion sets and vise versa. In old Roman legends
Scorpio was sent by the goddess Gaia to kill
Orion. Did you know that Scorpio is one of the
first six zodiacs? He is also 800 light years
away, so if you see him from Earth you know he is
really big! Scorpio is very old because he was
seen by ancient civilizations about 5000 years
ago. An asteroid is coming right towards me, got
to go bye!!!! zachary

14Mr. Hairy Potter 88 Odeboden Ave. Plopper
Springs, LA 08025
Dear Hairy Potter, Boy, is it HOT up here! Im
on Sirius, (whose name comes from the Greek word
scorching.) the hottest star in the sky, right
after the sun. It is sun-like in both its
brightness and its size. Its huge! Sirius is in
the constellation Canis Major, or the Greater
Dog, which is said to be the larger of Orions
two hunting dogs. Canis Major is supposedly
chasing the Rabbit, which is in front of him.
That bunny-rabbit better be careful! Now, dont
get Canis Major confused with another beast! For
example, some people confuse him with the two
headed beast called Orthus, so if your looking
for me up here, make sure you look in the right
spot! Hope everything is going well down on
Earth! Be sure to write back!
Love,
Hailey P.S. Could you send a
pair of sunglasses with your next letter? I think
that my eyes may be burning to ashes as I write
this!!! P.P.S. Oh, by the way, Sirius
star-friends Athara, Aludra, Mirzam, Wezen,
Muliphen, Adora, and Furud all say, Hi!
This is a close-up picture of Sirius, the
brightest star in the constellation of Canis
Major.
15Tootsie Roll 22 Chris Drive 07083 phenixArizona
Dear Tootsie Roll, Did you know that stars
live for millions of years, and they are made up
of gases? The closet star is the sun. Stars leave
big black holes when they explode and die. Stars
like the sun can live up to billions and billions
of years. If you go and visit the stars you will
burn to death. Stars are made up of many hot
gases that explode when something touches it.
Those hot gases are created by nuclear fusion.
The temperature can reach over 2,000,000 degrees.
Yikes! That would hurt. Stars are born in huge
clouds of tons, tons, and tons of hot dangerous
gases. When you see a star twinkle, it means it
is a star but when you dont see a star twinkle
it is a planet. Note to world do not visit the
stars. Your
friend,
Abagail P.S. If you see stars come close. BACK
AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

16Miss. Frizzle 245 Magic Bus Lane Sacramento, CA
Dear Miss. Frizzle, Can you believe the sun
is over 4 billion years old. Did you also know
that the sun is actually a medium-sized star? The
sun can hold over one million Earths. Wow!
Thats one big star and one small planet. The
core of the sun can get to 15 million degrees
Celsius. On the sun you can see dark spots called
sunspots. Scientists believe that these sunspots
are small storms. The sun is the closest star to
Earth. Most stars can be thousands of miles away
from Earth. The sun is so hot that if our ship
got any closer to the sun our ship would start to
melt.
From,
Matthew P.S. Can you
send up a pair of the glasses the kids wore to
look at the sun? P.S.S. I know that Im not
suppose to look at it because I might go blind ,
but I thought it would be cool to look at the Sun
with those special glasses.
(This is the Sun taken by NASA.)
17Dear Renae , Guess where I am. I am at a
cold place that looks like a funky Saturn and is
a bluish-green. If you guessed Uranus youre
right! Uranus is a really cold place, so even a
penguin cant make a living there. Uranus is cold
because its inside is made up of icy methane. It
was hit by an asteroid years ago, so now it spins
on its axis. Methane gives it its blue- green
look. Uranus is one of the three gas giants. Its
rings are made up of space rocks and it looks
like it will make a great slide. If you stood on
Uranus you will not see stars, but you will see
gas .

Dear Mom and Dad, Did you know that Venus
is the night star? And did you know that the
symbol of Venus looks like an O a T stuck
together. Venus is sometimes called the morning
star too! Also Venus has volcanoes. Some of the
land on Venus is really dried up lava? Did you
know Venus and Earth are the same size?!! Venus
is so hot it can burn a cannonball!! In the day
its 484 degrees Celsius on the side facing the
sun. Venus also has rapid clouds made of sulfuric
acid. WHEWWH!! Sincerely, Your favorite handsome
and only son in the world,
Gabe
