9Entry requirements for Advanced Level in the
Sixth Form
- Minimum entry requirement of 5 A - C
- Several subjects have an individual entry
requirement in addition to this - English - Grade B or higher, in Literature or
Language - Maths - at least a Grade B in Maths
- PE - Science at Grade B or higher
- Psychology - B grades in English and Maths or
Science
10 The impact of exam tiers/levels
- Students will take exams appropriate to their
ability in Maths, English and Science and in some
other optional choices - The highest grade possible at Foundation Level is
a C - The final decision about which tier a student
will be entered for will be made during Year 11

A balanced curriculum includes the CORE
everyone does these subjects as required by
law OPTIONS up to 4 subjects, chosen out of
interest and aptitude

20Why might I not get all my choices?
- A subject may have too few people
- A subject may have too many people
- It might not be in your best interests to study
a certain combination of subjects - It may not be possible to timetable all the
different combinations of choices
21What will happen next?
- Your choices will be entered into a computer
- You will be asked to confirm your choices
- Problems are identified and discussed with both
the student and the Parents - A solution is agreed
- Letters confirming options are sent home
