    horizontal, diagonal, curved, zigzag.
  • Four tools that can be used to make lines
include pencils, markers, pens, brushes, or
    scissors.

  • Diagonal lines are called action lines because
    they communicate movement.
  • Gesture drawing is done quickly to capture the
feeling of motion and do not emphasize details.
They are drawn only to capture the feeling of
    movement.

4
  • There are three things that the values created by
line groups depend on, they are
  • The number of lines
  • The size of the space between the lines
  • The media or tools used.
  • Artists control the value of the line they create
by the amount of pressure they exert on the tool
they use. The harder they press, the darker the
    line.

5
  • While line is one of the most important elements
of art, it is not the most important.
  • Vertical horizontal lines never lean !
  • While vertical horizontal lines are very
static. Diagonal curved lines are not.
  • The Chinese Japanese use different types of
    calligraphic lines brushstrokes in their
    paintings.
  • A surface has a light value if it reflects a lot
of light, a dark value if it reflects little or
