Title: Resurrection Power
1Resurrection Power
- Ephesians 119b-22
- The Purifying Significance of
- Jesus Triumph Over Death
2Resurrection Power for Believers
- Ephesians 119-20
- . . . and what is the surpassing greatness of His
power toward us who believe. These are in
accordance with the working of the strength of
His might which He brought about in Christ, when
He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His
right hand in the heavenly places,
3The Ascended Anointed One
- PSA 1101-2 The Lord says to my Lord "Sit at My
right hand Until I make Your enemies a footstool
for Your feet. The Lord will stretch forth Your
strong scepter from Zion, saying, "Rule in the
midst of Your enemies."
4Indestructible Life
- Hebrews 715-16 And this is clearer still, if
another priest arises according to the likeness
of Melchizedek, who has become such not on the
basis of a law of physical requirement, but
according to the power of an indestructible life. - Hebrews 728 Therefore He is able also to save
forever those who draw near to God through Him,
since He always lives to make intercession for
them.
5A Soaring Kingship
- EPH 121 far above all rule and authority and
power and dominion, and every name that is named,
not only in this age but also in the one to come.
6The King of the Universe/The Head of the Church
- Ephesians 122-23 And He put all things in
subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head
over all things to the church, which is His body,
the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
7The Pre-Eminent Prince of Peace
- Colossians 117-18
- He is before all things, and in Him all things
hold together. He is also head of the body, the
church and He is the beginning, the firstborn
from the dead, so that He Himself will come to
have first place in everything.
8Why Resurrection Power is Intimately Personal
- EPH 24-6 But God, being rich in mercy, because
of His great love with which He loved us, even
when we were dead in our transgressions, made us
alive together with Christ (by grace you have
been saved) and raised us up with Him, and seated
us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ
Jesus,
9Defining and Discerning the Power of the
Resurrection
- Is there Healing in the Atonement?
- ISA 535 But He was pierced through for our
transgressions, He was crushed for our
iniquities The chastening for our well-being
fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are
healed.
10New Testament Commentary on Isaiah 535
- 1Peter 224 and He Himself bore our sins in His
body on the cross, so that we might die to sin
and live to righteousness for by His wounds you
were healed.
11Establishing a Biblical Worldview
- 2 Corinthians 416 Therefore we do not lose
heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet
our inner man is being renewed day by day.
12Avoiding an Overreaction
- There is Most Definitely Healing in the
Atonement The Effects of Being Free from Sin - Eternal Healing Spiritual and Physical at the
Appointed Time - 2 Corinthians 54 For indeed while we are in this
tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not
want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that
what is mortal will be swallowed up by life.
13Defining the Power of the Resurrection Towards
the Believer
- The believer in the Messiah receives
justification, - sanctification, and
- glorification
- through the Power of the Death and Resurrection
of Jesus Christ
141 Cling to the Doctrine of the Resurrection
- 1 Corinthians 1512-15 Now if Christ is
preached, that He has been raised from the dead,
how do some among you say that there is no
resurrection of the dead? But if there is no
resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has
been raised and if Christ has not been raised,
then our preaching is vain, your faith also is
vain. - Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses
of God, because we testified against God that He
raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact
the dead are not raised.
151 Cling to the Doctrine of the Resurrection
- 1Corinthians 1516-20 For if the dead are not
raised, not even Christ has been raised and if
Christ has not been raised, your faith is
worthless you are still in your sins. Then those
also who have fallen asleep in Christ have
perished. If we have hoped in Christ in this life
only, we are of all men most to be pitied. - But now Christ has been raised from the dead,
the first fruits of those who are asleep.
162 Live as Those Alive from the Dead
- Romans 611-13
- Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin,
but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do
not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you
obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the
members of your body to sin as instruments of
unrighteousness but present yourselves to God as
those alive from the dead, and your members as
instruments of righteousness to God.
173 Set Your Sights on the Finish Line
- Philippians 310-13 . . . that I may know Him and
the power of His resurrection and the fellowship
of His sufferings, being conformed to His death
in order that I may attain to the resurrection
from the dead. Not that I have already obtained
it or have already become perfect, but I press on
so that I may lay hold of that for which also I
was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
18Conclusion Stirred to the Promise of Future
Glory
- ROM 811
- But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from
the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ
Jesus from the dead will also give life to your
mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in
you.
