What Are They?

• Meat eating plants
• Do not rely on sunlight
• Eat ants, flies mosquitoes
• There are around 500 types of carnivorous plants
• How they developed is unknown
• Can no longer live in nutritious soil

Their Habitat

• Lack of Nitrogen
• Acidic Bogs
• Rock outcroppings
• Poor soil
• Plentiful in bugs
• They cant live in good soil

• Luring
• Chitenase enzyme
• Nutrition
• Needs Nitrogen and Phosphorus
• Phosphorus makes DNA

• Famous Venus Flytrap
• Trigger Hairs
• Aptly Named
• Only found in the Carolina region

How they Develop

• Fires clear land for them in bogs
• They spread seeds like regular plants
• Some use bacteria to digest food

The Pitcher Plant does not have enzymes
