• Ticketing applications - PRS, UTS
• Freight Operation related applications - FOIS,
  COIS, CMS Crew management system etc.
• MIS applications-Engg/medical/security etc.
  (common to Railways)
• Finance related application- PRIME/MMIS/AFRES
• Other independent minor applications

• Centrally managed - PRS/UTS/FOIS (centralised
  servers PRS-5/UTS-9/FOIS-1)
• Zone based application - PRIME/MMIS/AFRES
• Batch type COBOL applications -TA/SA

Data center NWR

• Database servers- IBM P series Two
• Operating System-AIX with Oracle 10 G
• (clustered) RAID 5 configured
• Application servers IBM X series-Three
• Other servers-web server, mail server etc.
• Complete LAN set up for HQ users and four
  divisions for rail net and internet access
• Fiber optic connectivity to three divisions BKN
  division on BSNL leased line

• IT set up is used for accessing centralized
  application software like PRIME, MMIS
• Internet access and rail net access
• Online File transfer through FTP and general
  office work like on word, excel etc.
• Multimedia files and other software

• PRIME- payroll and related independent module
• MMIS- material management information system
• AFRES- Advanced financial and railway expenditure
  management system

• COBOL based Stores Account application - stock
  reports, purchase suspense report
• COBOL based Traffic Accounts application for
  statistical reports
• Oracle8i based Accounts application - i-tas

PRIME..(web based)

• PRIME running successfully since Nov 2004
• 8 modules live
• 6th PC modifications under process
• Maintained by outsourcing with internal support
• All divisions and three workshops feed online
  data and generate reports at their end

I-Tas(client-server)

• Application for finance management
• Running on oracle 8i with D2K front end
• Maintained by M/s C DAC
• Division wise installed and maintained
• To be replaced by AFRES
• Frequent problems and partly completed software

MMIS status..(web based)

• HQ module started recently, depot module shortly
  by 10th Nov 2008, finance module by Dec-08
• Sales module completion target- 31st Nov
• Under customization by Agency M/s CDAC
• Stores Account application will be replaced
• All stores depots connected online for data
  feeding and report generation
• Next step E procurement

AFRES..(web based)

• Under implementation process
• It will replace all divisional level i-tas
  software
• Online data transfer possible tie up with EcoR
  dedicated link required

Other Applications..status

• I-tas is running with regular problems
• Shall be replaced after AFRES implementation
• Stores Application COBOL based is running
  smoothly although modifications required
• Shall be replaced soon after switch over to MMIS
• Traffic application, COBOL based, is running
  smoothly

Cadre position

• Gazetted Three officers(HQ) 2 JAG, 1 SS
• Non Gazetted cadre of 40 sanctioned recently
  (JE-II-26 JE-I-05 SE-II-5 SE-I-4) 10 Group-C
  working(HQ) hired from other departments
• Cadre Notification issued- 16 from departmental
  selection 10 RRB direct recruitment quota in
  JE-II rank
• Presently zonal edp set up is nil

Suggestions..

• Setting up of long term plan and policies related
  to IT area LAN, Hardware, Software, application
  software etc.
• Centralized all Zonal Railways functional
  integrated ERP software is required with
  centralized servers at four to five locations

• E-procurement
• E-auction
