- Arabic numerals have a zero (place holder) so
that they can be used for addition, subtraction,
multiplication, division, etc. - Since Arabic numerals are not ad-hoc (ct Roman
Numerals IV, IX, C, M, L, etc.) they can also be
used for huge numbers - Round numbers have lots of zeros. The zero in
Arabic is a dota zero with a circumference of
