Overview of changes in Legislation

FRPA Jan 2004
  • FPC repealed
  • Community Forests have to do FSP (under FPPR)
  • Transition provisions During transition Community
    Forests can submit FDP under FPC/WLFMR or FSP
    under FRPA/FPPR
  • Any FDP (existing or submitted during transition)
    is valid till its approval date expires or it is
    replaced with a FSP
  • Transition period ends Dec 31, 2005.

Bill 33 (May 2004)
  • deletes section 43.5(1-3 5) of the Forest Act
  • adds section 43.2 to the Forest Act
  • these 2 changes in essence change Community
    Forest Pilot Agreements to Probationary
    Community Forest Agreements
  • adds section 43.51 to the Forest Act allows for
    direct invitations to apply
  • adds section 43.52 to the Forest Act which allows
    RM/DM to change the area or boundary of a CFA
