• LRD HISTORY
• Established in 1972
• separate entity within the university
• specific mission to manage the industry component
  of the universitys RD portfolio
• large amount of budgetary and human resource
  management autonomy within the university
• giving the flexibility and freedom to operate
  necessary to operate as a business unit
• Consists of
• central staff supporting researchers in
  technology transfer
• research divisions embedded in via matrix
  structure in university
• virtual organisations in which (groups of)
  researchers (from different faculties or
  departments) can group their applied research,
  commercial-industrial and exploitation
  activities.
