Gladius

• The gladius was a Roman short sword.
• It was based off a Greek sword.

Pilum

• Pilum were occasionally weighted
• They were throwing spears
• They had soft metal behind the hard head so it
  would bend and get stuck in a shield

Assorted Roman Materiel

• Legion XXIV MA Vexillum standard,  a Pilum
  (javelin),  3 Scutum shields,  4 Cassis (metal)
  helmets,  2 sets of Lorica Segmentata body
  armor,  3 Gladius swords,  a pair of Caligae
  sandals,  a marching pack mounted on a "T" carry
  pole,  9 Saudis palisades stakes   and other
  miscellaneous  eating utensils  and  personal
  items.

Trireme

• The trireme was built for speed and mobility. The
  triremes were 120 feet long, and were powered by
  rowers arranged in three rows . Contrary to
  popular belief, the navy did not use slaves .

• Weapons corvus (raven), battering ram, Greek
  fire, wooden towers, varying types of catapults,
  mounted artillery, and personal range weapons
• Roman ships were equipped with sails and two to
  three banks of oars and had a metal ram on front
  and were equipped with catapults and ballistas.
  Hooks were used to pull down sails. Often used a
  ramp to board a ship for hand-to-hand combat The
  fire ship was when a ship was loaded with tar and
  other flammable materials and set on fire. The
  ship then was sent into an enemy harbor to cause
  confusion and to set the enemies ships on fire.
