It all started back in the second grade
Heathers teacher Mrs. Utzkie would assign new
spelling Words at the beginning of each week.

Today is MONDAY!!
Good morning class! Here are the new spelling
lists!

Each list contained 10 words and 2 bonus words.
After receiving the new lists the students were
instructed to repeat the word after the teacher
and then rewrite the words and find the
definitions using the dictionaries in the
classroom.

As the students anxiously awaited the ring of the
bell, Mrs. Utzkie had one important message for
her class

with her mother.

In order to prepare for the spelling tests
Heather and her mother practiced after dinner and
before bed.

Anyone who received a perfect on their spelling
test got to put a star next to their name on a
chart in the back of the classroom. After 10
stars Mrs. Utzkie would bring in that child a
piece of candy or pencil.

tears for this was her first time of
disappointment

for her at their meeting spot, the library.

Back at home Heathers Mom surprises her with her
favorite meal to make her feel better!

Its spelling bee day here at Eastview Elementary
School for the third grade, and Heathers class
is in the lead.
