Clark Procedures

  • Wednesday Assemblies alternating Wednesdays and
    families are welcome to attend
  • PE there will be monthly activity log homework,
    part of the new district Health Curriculum
    starting in Oct.
  • Music 4th Graders learn recorders
  • 5th Graders learn the guitar

    homework basket (come with folder in hand)

Homework Policy
  • Planners done each day and need a signature each
    day. This is a STUDENT responsibility. Help
    your child make it a habit to check off each item
    in the planner.
  • Homework Hotline is 425-837-6277. This is to
    hear the nightly homework assignments. This is a
    student job each day.
  • In the Seahawks folder, homework checkers will
    record any missing work. It needs to be turned
    in that week to get any credit. Try NOT to
    schedule family vacations during school.
  • Work needs to be neat and organized with proper
    heading.
  • Intensity will increase, so it is important to
    establish good habits immediately. Have a
    relaxing and consistent place and time to work.
  • Monthly projects tend to stress kiddos out. Help
    your child by looking at the monthly plan in the
    back of the planner and stay organized!

Homework Workload
  • Every week there is spelling sent home each
    Friday for the following week.
  • Most nights there will be a math Study Link
    (picture of house in corner). It is given out
    each day in mailbox.
  • Reading homework should be reading book project
    book and/or Lit. Circle book.
  • Every Friday Literature Circle job is due,
    starting in a few weeks.
  • Monthly book projects due at the end of each
    month instructions and detailed rubrics will be
    in provided white folder.
  • Unfinished work will be sent home to complete.
  • 4th Grade Families this is a HUGE transition,
    we know. Please establish good habits early and
    dont stress. It takes most kids at least a
    month to settle in and really get the routines.

Homework Schedule
  • Mondays Spelling definitions on colored
    notecard AND lined paper
  • Tuesdays Spelling meaningful sentences
  • As the bell rang, students spilled out the doors
    being freed from school.
  • Wednesdays Syllables (use dictionary.com) and
    words in words (need at least 2 hidden words)
  • Thursdays Key sheet for studying and Lit.
    Circle job
  • Math almost every night

Friday Information
  • Each Friday a folder of corrected work will be
    sent home. This will contain ALL checked work
    from the week. The empty folder is to be
    returned Monday. The work is for you to keep.
  • The spelling list for the following week will be
    sent home on Friday.

Volunteers
  • To volunteer, you need to attend a Clark training
    and fill out pink WA State Patrol paper. If you
    have been trained at Clark, all you need is to
    fill out a pink WA State Patrol paper.
  • We still have openings for some station leaders
    (done in pairs), and Literature Circle guide. We
    really need people available to substitute for
    stations. Still need a few volunteers for Oct.
    2nd field trip (email us!).
  • Library would like someone to help check in books
    Wednesday mornings.

Stations 4 per week Please arrive on time and
find a substitute if needed.
  • Math/Science Everyday Math games or science
    experiments from Highline kits led by parents.
  • Technology various computer projects led by
    Mrs. Ferrin.
  • Environmental water ecology year long focus led
    by Mrs. Rickey.
  • Writing/Art stories and skills from McGraw
    Hill, Junior Great books, or an art project.
    Writing is based on stories read in stations.

  • Novel studies different themes that tie into
    social studies and science
  • Literature circles small group meeting to
    discuss novels

  • Students should be able to write 5 paragraph
    essays by the end of the year.

Honeybees
  • There are three types of bees that live in a
    colony. One bee is the worker bee. Workers feed
    the queen and larvae, guard the hive entrance and
    help to keep the hive cool by fanning their
    wings. Worker bees also collect nectar to make
    honey.  In addition, honey bees produce wax comb.

5th Grade Camp Coleman
  • Dates October 24-26
  • Forms are due October 3rd and money is due
    October 12th.
  • Cost TBA (125)
  • Checks payable to Clark Elementary.
  • Parent volunteers we can take two females and 2
    males. Due to overwhelming response, a lottery
    may be in place to determine chaperones.
  • This is a great LEARING experience for the
    students. It is highly encouraged they attend.
