- Further advice
- Both the applicant and the accompanying person
are strongly encouraged to participate in a short
induction course. - The accompanying person does not have to be a
parent or legal guardian but it is welcomed if
parents assume this task. - Both categories B and BE can be applied for.
- Categories M, L and S are included in category B
and these vehicles can be driven without
accompaniment.
7New Accompanied Driving at 17 model in Germany
- The accompanying person should assume no
teaching role and should only - be a communication partner for the driver during
and after the drive - allow the driver to make his/her own independent
decisions - restrict him/herself to the occasional piece of
advice, but not directly intervene in
decision-making or manoeuvring - answer any questions from the driver
- advise the driver on route selection and driving
behaviour - exert modest influence on the driver in difficult
or conflict situations.

- Results
- Initial results of the accompanied driving model
are positive. Although they have not yet been
fully scientifically assessed, there appears to
be a clear positive trend and the results
correspond, for example, with those found in
Austria (L17) - A reduction in accidents
- Less traffic offences
- The driving test pass rate of BF 17 candidates
is clearly higher than for standard educated
candidates (ca. 10 practical and ca.10
theoretical test)
