6Evacuation Travel Demand Forecasting Model (TDFM)
- Web based GIS tool to run on Windows Explorer
- Requires three inputs for each county
- Storm evacuation category, tourist occupancy,
participation rate - Additional inputs - traffic counts, directional
number of lanes - Distributes evacuees among pre-determined
destinations based on hurricane evacuation
studies - Traffic volumes and updates not real-time, by
design in this version of the model

8Add screen shot of counties here
9Findings from the Table-Top Exercise
- The ELT concept was successful
- The TDFM improved communication among the states
and ROC - The TDFM gave a reasonable idea of the likely
state to state traffic volumes
10Next Steps for the ETDFM
- Inclusion of coastal states from Texas to
Delaware - Inclusion of all threatened counties and major
evacuation routes - Identification of major incidents along the
evacuation routes
