  • Research Task
  • Your task is to find out a style of painting that
    you like and to use that style to decorate your
    fish.
  • Print an A4 colour image of a painting and bring
    it to your next art lesson, and copy a detail of
    it.
  • Choose one of the following ten artists Monet,
    Seurat, Van Gogh, Munch, Matisse, Derain, Cubism
    (a style of Art,) Leger, Stained glass windows or
    Paul Klee

Monet
  • Developed a revolutionary kind of painting which
    emerged in France in the second half of the
    nineteenth century which used loose brushmarks to
    depict the effects of light. The Impressionists
    did not use black at all, as they felt that this
    isnt a colour which appears naturally in nature.

Seuret
  • Developed a style of painting in the late
    nineteenth century called Pointillism. He was
    very patient and built up his works using tiny
    dots of paint, which from a distance blended
    together. It was quite a scientific technique. He
    knew a lot about colour theory. He also banned
    black from his palette.

  • An astonishing painter who did most of his
    famous art work in the last three years of his
    life, famous for cutting his ear off, his
    paintings make use of very bright colours and
    swirly lines which suggested his inner turmoil
    and strong emotions

  • An Expressionist artist who took Van Goghs
    bright lines and swirly lines one step further to
    create something quite horrific. This is his most
    famous piece of Artwork and it is called the
    scream

Matisse and the Fauves
  • Fauvism - An early twentieth century art
    movement and style of painting in France. The
    name Fauves, French for "Wild Beasts," was given
    to artists adhering to this style because it was
    felt that they used intense colours in a violent,
    uncontrolled way. The leader of the Fauves was
    Henri Matisse (French, 1869-1954). and style of

Cubism
  • Cubism is a non-objective approach to painting
    developed originally in France by Pablo Picasso
    and Georges Braque around 1906. the Cubists
    represented forms into the essential geometric
    shapes the cube, the sphere, the cylinder, and
    the cone.

  • Used really bold outlines and Primary colours to
    depict modern life

Paul Klee
  • A Swiss painter of German nationality. His
    highly individual style was influenced by many
    different art trends, including Expressionism and
    Cubism.
  • Klee was a natural draftsman who experimented
    with and eventually mastered colour theory, and
    wrote extensively about it. His works reflect his
    dry humour and his sometimes child-like
    perspective, his personal moods and beliefs, much
    of it is very poetic

  • Developed a very distinctive abstract (an art
    based purely on shape, colour and form) style of
    painting which was initially based on trees, as
    well as street scenes seen from above. He used
    basic shapes and a limited colour palette which
    made bold use of Primary colours
