52 Corinthians 45-9For we do not preach
ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and
ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. For
God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness,"
made his light shine in our hearts to give us the
light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the
face of Christ. But we have this treasure in
jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing
power is from God and not from us. We are hard
pressed on every side, but not crushed
perplexed, but not in despair persecuted, but
not abandoned struck down, but not destroyed.

81 Peter 29-12But you are a chosen people, a
royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people
belonging to God, that you may declare the
praises of him who called you out of darkness
into his wonderful light. Once you were not a
people, but now you are the people of God once
you had not received mercy, but now you have
received mercy. Dear friends, I urge you, as
aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain
from sinful desires, which war against your soul.
Live such good lives among the pagans that,
though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may
see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he
visits us.

you your heart of stone and give you a heart of

12Nehemiah 12-4Hanani, one of my brothers, came
from Judah with some other men, and I questioned
them about the Jewish remnant that survived the
exile, and also about Jerusalem. They said to
me, "Those who survived the exile and are back in
the province are in great trouble and disgrace.
The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its
gates have been burned with fire." When I heard
these things, I sat down and wept. For some days
I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of
heaven
13Nehemiah 21-3I had not been sad in his
presence before so the king asked me, "Why does
your face look so sad when you are not ill? This
can be nothing but sadness of heart."I was very
much afraid, but I said to the king,
141 Samuel 178-32Goliath stood and shouted to
the ranks of Israel,On hearing the Philistine's
words, Saul and all the Israelites were dismayed
and terrified. David asked the men standing near
him, "What will be done for the man who kills
this Philistine and removes this disgrace from
Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that
he should defy the armies of the living God?"
David said to Saul, "Let no one lose heart on
account of this Philistine your servant will go
and fight him."
15Exodus 211-12One day, after Moses had grown
up, he went out to where his own people were and
watched them at their hard labor. He saw an
Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people.
Glancing this way and that and seeing no one, he
killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.
16Once that frustration and anger is understood as
being your holy discontentits as if an enormous
wave of positive energy gets released inside of
you. This energy causes you to act on the
dissatisfaction thats been brewing deep within
your soul and compels you to say yes to joining
forces with God so that the darkness and
depravity around you gets pushed back. And it is
this reality that what is enslaved can be set
free, what is broken can still be mended, what is
diseased can still be restored, what is hated can
still be loved, what is dirty can still be make
clean, and what is wrong can still be made
right. Bill Hybles Holy Discontent
17How do we develop this Holy Discontent?
- Pray that God will open your eyes to the needs
of people around you - Ask God to show you the specific discontent
you should act on
18The reason why it is so critical for you to dig
in and figure out what it is that wrecks you is
because you may be the one person God is looking
for in order to reverse some ugly and destructive
trends I your generation. In factdont be
surprised if you hear God say, This is why I
made you and why I wired you up like I did! This
is hwy I allowed the mountain-top,
reason-for-rejoicing times in your life, as well
as why I let the pits of despair sneak in. None
of your tears of anguish will be wasted I plan
to use every ounce of what youve been through
for good in this specific area. I know you are
devastated by the same problem that grieves me,
and I just happen to have in mind someone exactly
like you to help me solve this!
19Let me say again, God is looking for someone just
like youso He can sign you up for service. I
assure you there is a holy discontent with your
name on it. There is something out there that God
is waiting for you to grab on to so that He can
use you to help solve it. It wrecks you, it
wrecks Him, and He is ready for you both to do
something about it.Perhaps your one thing
your foundation for holy discontent wont
affect other people in the same way, fut for you,
its devastating at a core level. Like my friend
Max Lucado says, its that inner music that no
one else hears precisely the way you hear it.
