• An Ornithologist is a scientist who studies
• birds. Ornithology is the science of studying
• birds. When you study birds, you need to
• identify theses characteristics

Materials Needed for Bird Watching

• -your eyes and ears
• -a bird guide book or resources
• for finding species of birds
• -small notebook
• -data gathering record sheet
• -you may use field glasses or
• binoculars if you have them

Hints for Observing Birds

• Watch for birds early in morning or at
  sunset.
• Spread some birdseed on the ground or sit near a
  birdfeeder.
• Sit quietly and watch. Noises or movement will
  scare the birds away.
• Record what you see in your notebook and on you
  data sheet.
