SMF ITT Project Overview

IEAS Integrated Electronic Aviation System
  • The IEAS is a multi phase project that is
comprised of multiple components that are both in
the AirIT contract and from other new systems.
    The IEAS is comprised of
  • Airport Operational Database AODB 622,000
  • Multi Use Flight Information Display System
    MUFIDS 1,565,000
  • Common Use Terminal Equipment CUTE 971,000
  • Airspace Information Monitoring System
    AIMS 175,000
  • Gate Allocation and Positioning System
    GAPS 284,000
  • Web Flight Information System WEBIS Incl. in
    MUFIDS
  • Flight Information Control Interface
    FICI Incl in MUFIDS
  • Accounting and Invoicing System
    Propworks 390,000
  • Networking Infrastructure to support Sacramento
    International IT Systems 2,660,000
  • Design, maintenance and support for IEAS system
    (5 yrs) 2,871,000
  • The following slide shows how each system
integrates with the others. The remaining slides
show the implementation phases for each of the
separate elements of the IEAS system and other
related IT projects that are dependent on the new
    networking infrastructure.

Phase 1A The Fiber Ring During this phase, SCAS
working with Integrity Fiber will install 72
fibers in a ring around Sacramento International.
This bi-directional ring will allow data to pass
in two directions and provide a redundant
infrastructure. If the network is accidentally
cut, the data will have a duplicate path on which
to travel to its destination.
5
Phase 1B The Network During this phase, SCAS
working with OCIT and Cisco Systems will install
and configure a set of networking equipment that
will run on the fiber infrastructure referenced
in Phase 1A. The Phase 1 components comprise the
new networking core.
6
Phase 1C Wireless Backup During this phase, SCAS
working with OCIT to create a wireless backup
route for the network core. This separate
project will insure that areas on the SMF campus
that have single connections and are critical
financial and operational points on the network
are connected in multiple paths to the core
infrastructure.
7
Phase 2 AODB Setting up and loading the AODB
will be the first true delivery from AirIT. They
will work with SCAS staff to configure and load
the database with information for and about
Sacramento International. This portion of the
project is what all other elements of the IEAS
are based upon. The AODB servers will be
redundant to insure uninterrupted operations.
Airport Operational Database (AODB) is the
storehouse for all integrated data elements for
these systems
8
Phase 3 MUFIDS The first product that the
passengers and airlines will see is the MUFIDS
component of the project. Currently, airlines
manage their own FIDS displays some are
electronic while others are manual slide boards.
SMF MUFIDS will have direct information feeds
from the airlines and the hardware will be
maintained by SCAS staff.
Multi Use Flight Information System (MUFIDS)
takes information from the other message services
as well as connections to the airlines and
displays them to the public

Airspace and Monitoring System (AIMS) tracks
flights as they come towards SMF

FAA
Phase 4A Additional Information
Sources Enhancing the delivery of information to
the public will be the introduction of AIMS and
the FAA messaging services. These data feeds
will provide additional information for the
MUFIDS system.
10
Phase 4B Stretching MUFIDS to the
WEB Concurrently with adding the data feeds
identified in the previous slide, the WEBIS
component will enable SCAS to provide real time
SMF FIDS information on the Internet.
Web Information System (WEBIS) displays the same
information over the Internet

Phase 5 Common Use and Gate Management The final
component of this project is the implementation
of Common Use Terminal Equipment and Gate
Management Systems. The airlines will derive a
huge benefit by relegating the maintenance and
repairs of the ticket counter and gate equipment
to SCAS staff. Additional savings can be
realized by the airlines in a common use
configuration.
