Bonjour Hello
  • Je mappelle Layla
  • Jai douze ans
  • Jhabite a Poole en Angletrre
  • My name is Layla
  • I am 12 years old
  • I live in Poole in England

I am here to tell you about my concerns on the
environment and what we can do to help.
3
What is the environment ?
  • The environment is the surroundings in which a
living thing grows reproduces and dies .
  • The water, air and the earth are all parts of the
    environment.
  • Unfortunately our environment is falling apart
because of global warming. Cars, factories and
schools are just a few of the reasons why this is
    happening.
  • Some people who are concerned about this problem
are called Environmentalists. They are looking
for ways in which humans can live and prosper
without harming the environment for future
    generations.

4
My main concern about the environment
  • Although there are many problems with involving
    the environment
  • My biggest personal worry is that the countryside
    as we know it is
  • disappearing.
  • This is a concern to me as I live in the middle
of a heath land which could
  • vanish because of the way we are abusing our
    world.

5
Why is the country side important ?
  • The countryside is where much of our food is
grown for example wheat for bread.
  • It is traditionally where fruit and vegetables
    are grown.
  • It is where animals are bred to give us meat and
    dairy produce such as milk.
  • Without this we could not produce our own food
and would have to import from other countries.
  • It employs many people in the farming industry.
  • It is a natural habitat for many species of birds
    and animals.

6
Why am i concerened about the country side ?
  • We are taking it for granted and thinking of
today and not he long term consequences of our
actions. We are doing this by using pesticides
and chemicals on our crops so as so produce
cheaper food for the supermarkets to sell. This is
not good as it results in the natural balance
    being disturbed.
  • Forests and woodland are being destroyed by
humans wanting to use there resources to reduce
    the cost of building materials.
  • Houses are being built on countryside land this
is a problem because it is taking away our
    country side.
  • We are also using the country side as sites to
dump our rubbish this is not only unsightly but
destroys land that could be used in other ways.
  • All the above points reduce the natural habitat
of many animals that live there.

7
Saving the country side
  • To save the county side we need change peoples
    attitudes and make them
  • realise that their actions could make our
    countryside disappear.
  • If we educate everyone to help join in we may be
    able to save this fantastic
  • part of our country.
  • We can help do this by.

8
Friendly farming
  • Getting people to buy fair trade or organic
products will help because often cheaper non
    organic products contain chemicals and
    pesticides which destroy the land.
  • Often the supermarket vegetables are grown in
greenhouse conditions which allows them to be
sold at cheaper prices which in the short term is
good for the customer but puts farmers out of
work and leaves land neglected farmed.
  • Organic meat is farmed in the traditional way so
the animals are treated humanely not pumped full
of chemicals and allowed to live their lives on
the land therefore helping to let nature take its
    course.

9
Forests and woods
  • Forests and woodland are being destroyed by
humans wanting to use their resources to reduce
the cost of building materials this in the long
run will destroy forests around the world.
  • We can help this by recycling and buying recycled
    goods.
  • We can also try to use goods that come from
sustainable resources to help keep our forests
and woods the way they should be and keep a
natural habitat for the birds and animals .

10
Housing
  • To save the country side we need to be able to
stop there being new buildings put up on the
    country side.
  • To do this we need to be able to
  • Renovate abandoned and run down buildings to
provide the community with homes instead of
building new houses on our country side. This will
mean that we help save the areas of the country
side and not have to fill it with new housing for
    people to live in.
  • If we run out of abandoned houses then only build
    small environmentally friendly homes from
renewable resources it takes up less room and it
helps maintain the country side this wont take
up as much room as big houses and there for you
save more of this beautiful country side.

11
Rubbish and recycling
  • Recycling is a very important part of they
environment without it the world would already be
full of rubbish. Our council the introduced
recycling bins to help with this problem.
  • The problem is that they only empty the
recycling bins once every two weeks,so if your
recycling bin is full in the first week you have
to throw away things that could be recycled.
  • This means that we are creating more rubbish
than needed so the world is becoming full of
rubbish. 75 of stuff can be recycled but only
27 of it is actually becoming recycled.

12
Conclusion
  • In conclusion we can all help save the country
    side by
  • Buying organic products.
  • Using recycled products.
  • Using products from sustainable resources.
  • Reusing existing buildings instead of building
    new houses on country land.
  • IF EVERYONE PLAYED THERE PART THE COUNTRY SIDE
WILL BE HERE FOR OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN
    TO ENJOY
