PALIMBANG COAST ROAD CLEARING AND MEDCAP
PROJECT LCE 1226 6-12 SEP 07
Kalamansig
6 SEP
  • BACKGROUND While conducting an area recon, LCE
1226 found a road that was in poor condition.
    Predominantly Christian barangays had paved
roads, but predominantly Muslim barangays, and
MILF controlled, were not. It was rumored that
some barangays, namely Sangay, were completely
cut off by a series of landslides blocking the
road. Upon further reconnaissance, LCE 1226
found this to be the case. This presented the
opportunity to coordinate the Palimbang Coast
    Project.
  • WHO AFP of the 6th ID, 1002nd BDE, 38th CAFGU,
104th MILF BC, workers of the municipalities of
    Sangay, Malisbang, and Palimbang, Philippine
    National Police, CAT-A 762, LCE 1226.
  • WHAT CLEAR LANDSLIDES FROM ROADS LINKING
    ISOLATED MUSLIM COMMUNITIES, DISTRIBUTE MIST
    PRODUCTS, AND CONDUCT A MEDCAP
  • WHERE IVO Sultan Kudarat Coastline, between
    Kalamansig and Palimbang
  • (51N XH 17730 11567)
  • WHEN 6-12SEP07
  • WHY IOT establish rapport between the GRP and
    isolated coastal barangays while simultaneously
including the MILF in the project such that they
improve the GRPs legitimacy and solidify
commitment to the peace process in the eyes of
    the local populace.
  • RESULTS
  • 5 major landslides removed
  • Over 35 Km of road opened
  • 306 patients treated at 10SEP MEDCAP
  • Isolated barangay of Sangay reconnected to other
    towns in the province
  • MIST products distributed to several schools
