Purpose of Meeting
  • Give general information about this session.
  • Answer any questions.
  • Give advice on how to help your child.

My aims for your children
  • Give them a happy year.
  • Encourage them to achieve their potential.
  • Encourage a good attitude to learning.
  • Help them to develop personally and socially.
  • Be thinkers and solvers of problems.
  • Encourage personal organisational skills.

How does this happen?
  • By providing a suitable work programme.
  • By giving clear guidelines on behaviour and work
    ethics.
  • By working in partnership with parents.
  • By giving clear information to parents at our
    formal meetings.
  • By phoning a parent when a problem arises or
    there is a concern about progress.

Helping with Reading
  • Be aware of the higher order reading skills.
  • Literal

  • Encourage expression. (the use of commas,
    exclamation marks, question marks etc.)
  • On Thursdays hear revision of reading so far.
  • Discuss each book thoroughly.
  • Ask questions about the text.
  • Encourage child to begin to read novels.

  • Number Bonds
  • The Times Tables
  • Checking all homework carefully.
  • Time
  • Mental agility
  • Recognising numbers to 1000
  • Encourage your child to work with scales, money
    and work out puzzles.

Helping with Writing
  • Check all written homework carefully.
  • Be aware of
  • Sentence structure.
  • Use of capitals.
  • Spelling of common words.
  • Content.
  • Encourage neat handwriting at all times.
  • Encourage your child to enjoy expressive or
    ambitious vocabulary.
