• Road Sign

• Where people could live (blacks were separated
  into different townships)
• Jobs they could hold
• Education they could receive
• Pass laws All blacks had to carry pass books
  that were used to control their employment and
  free movement
• Laws authorized segregated public facilities
• Denied any representation of nonwhites in the
  national government

• Banned until 1990, the primary goal through the
  years has been the end of the apartheid system

  South Africa.

  politically, and culturally and create a sphere
  in which whites had no influence

• Last white President of S.A. 1989-1994
• Brought the apartheid system of racial
  segregation to an end
• Transition to majority rule
