Siding Appendicular Bones
  • Scapula flat side to the body, glenoid fossa
    lateral
  • Clavicle flat side superior, squared side to
    the sternum, deep curve in on the lateral sides
  • Radius use your fisted knuckles and thumb and
    the proximal end of the radius, whichever hand
    the bone looks like, that is what side it is.
  • Ulna olecranon process is the elbow so it is
    proximal and radial notch to thumb side (remember
    ulna touches U (you) in correct anatomical
    position)
  • Oscoxa acetabulum lateral and pointy pubic bone
    is anterior
  • Femur head points toward hip and intercondylar
    groove is posterior
  • Patella point apex away and set bone down,
    whichever way it rock is what side it is
  • Tibia Tibial tuberocity (looks like a knee) is
    anterior and medial maleolus is medial
  • Fibula look at lateral maleolus, find the
    facet, whichever way the bone sticks out, that is
    what side it is

  • Scaphoid twisted S

  • Triquetral - triangle
  • Pisiform pissy little bone

  • Medial Cuneiform - massive
  • Lateral Cuneiform - long
  • Intermediate Cuneiform ice cube
  • Cuboid cube like but nothing like a cube
  • Navicular like a boat in the navy
  • Talus 2nd largest - looks like a duck
  • Calcaneus - largest
