    curling waves. Arise with the pohuehue)

Getting in the Water
  • Lay on your board and position yourself in the
    center.
  • Nose of board should be 2 inches above water
    surface.
  • Use the crawl stroke to paddle through the water.

  • If a wave looks like a flattened A then it is
    uncatchable
  • When a wave starts to steepen like a stepladder
    you can catch it.
  • If it looks like a C shape it is catchable but
    also very dangerous.

  • Paddle for a wave.
  • Push with both hands off the rails (Quickly).
  • Extend arms and bring knees to chest (Keep weight
    centered.
  • Place feet firmly on board.
  • Slowly raise yourself up (Keep knees bent).
