  • After the War ended American troops replaced the
    British Troops
  • Washington Praised his soldiers for their
    endurance and perseverance

    though they were greatly over matched

  • 25,700 Americans Died in the war with 8,200
    wounded and 1,400 Missing compared to 10,000
    British Deaths
  • Soldiers received little pay for their service
    but received land in the west that they later
    sell
  • The War Debt for the revolutionary war was over
    27 million dollars to foreign countries
  • British/Loyalists
  • 100,000 Loyalists left their property and left
    the US
  • Many Loyalists went to Canada and established a
    new home and culture
  • Many Slaves and Native Americans lost their
    property and freedom

  • Individuals decide what to buy as well as what to

    replacing the government with republicanism
  • People would have to place the value of
    government ahead of their own interests
  • At First only FREE WHITE MEN would be allowed to
    run the government while women would teach the
    importance of government, honor, duty and
    willingness to sacrifice
  • After the War religious freedom was extended and
    taxes to support religion were aboloshed

    with some states outlawing slavery and some
    slaves, like Elizabeth Freeman, suing for her
    freedom
  • Preacher Richard Allen would form the Free
    African Society to help Promote freedom
  • The BIGGEST Problem, however, would be how to
    form a government that would protect citizen
    rights and economic freedoms
