Computer Authcate Accounts

• All students and staff will be issued Authcate
  accounts.
• Undergraduate and Postgraduate (Coursework)
  Students
• Will receive a Student Monash computer Authcate
  account
• You will receive
• An email address
• Unlimited Google Drive Storage(!!!)
• Access to Monash resources (Library Databases
  etc.)
• Postgraduate (Research only) HDR Students
• Will receive two Monash computer Authcate
  accounts Student and Staff-like account.
• Additions include
• Staff username
• Staff email address
• Shared SDrive

Fantastic for Collaboration (not Collusion!!)

Computer Security

• Remember your IT obligations at Monash
• No Torrents, Explicit material (or anything else
  that breaches the Acceptable Use of IT Policy)

Computer Labs

• Log in with your Monash username and password
• My documents is synced across labs and library
  with 5/100GB of storage
• Wireless printing available (http//printers.monas
  h.edu/)
• After hours access for computer labs
• Registration can take upto 3 working days to
  process before you can access the lab after hours

Software at Monash

• Monash provides some free software downloads for
  students
• Some available software include
• Microsoft Security Essentials (Anti virus
  software)
• Endnote
• Nvivo
• SAS
• Graphpad Prism
• Microsoft Office 365 University Subscription
• FREE(!!!) for students
• Can be installed on upto 2 PCs or Macs
• You can install additional software from the
  network via My.Software found on the Start Menu
  when you log in as a staff member.

• The my.Monash portal is the gateway to all your
  Monash services. Some of the main services
  include
• Email Google apps
• Communicate and collaborate with Google Mail,
  Calendar, Drive and Sites
• Opt in to Google and you'll get access to
  Hangouts, Blogger, YouTube and more
• MULO (Monash University Lectures Online)
• Listen to lectures
• Watch lecture presentations
• Library resources
• Access to reading lists, databases and electronic
  books and journals

• Moodle
• Is your online learning system.
• All learning for your enrolled units can be found

• Access study materials including lecture notes,
  assignments and quizzes
• Participate in discussion forums
• View your grades

Using laptop/smartphone at Monash

• Monash offers free wireless access to all
  students at all of our Australian and
  international campuses.
• Connect to Eduroam on your laptop, smartphone or
  other wireless enabled devices.
• Pop-up box will appear, enter in the username
  username_at_monash.edu
• Enter your password
• When connected to the Monash network,
• all Monash policies apply
• Best effort IT support is provided for personal
• devices.
